Lovely! not entirely sure that that exactly shade of red goes with the pinks and yellows, but that's being *picky*!

If this is a poor reflection, the original must have been wonderful!
I really love this one- the blue door is cute & mysterious at the same time!

Thanks matie.
I have tweeked my scanner as much as I can but in the end it comes down to cheap optics.
It's perfectly serviceable for b/w scans though. I have had it for 3-4 years now so maybe it is time to upgrade!

I would love to get a larger scanner but the cost of a decent A3 scanner is astronomical!
I have been taking photos of this particular piece along the way so I can put together a walkthru but, as you say, a photo is never the same. It is so hard to get even lighting across the illustration unless you have a semi-pro lighting rig set up.
I actually scanned this one in two pieces and then stitched it together in Photoshop which has its own set of perils.

yeah i attempted doing the two-part scan thing a couple weeks ago and i still couldn't get the lighting to match where the "seam" was lol but i am not a computer graphics wiz....not even close. I kind of avoid doing anything that involves cgi.... i only have photoshop for emergency tweaking.
some of my watercolors are really big and i had to photo them and they look really dark, but when i mess with the contrast u can see all the deivations in the colors because of inconsistant lighting. I am thinking of trying taking them outside. Maybe that'll fix it.

It's true a little bit of Photoshop wizardry is needed to stitch the two parts together. A photo in even light might work (under flouros is best I hear) or if you have dollars to spare you could always get them professionally scanned on a drum scanner that will handle larger sizes.
