This took way more effort than it should have. Regardless, I have managed to get this much needed redesign done in a relatively timely manner, so I'm happy.

The Vanguard of the United Sovereignty of Nations are the second-most common branch of this empire's vast and powerful military. They are heavily armored, well armed, elite soldiers; most often tasked with carrying out extremely dangerous missions or to soften up the opposition for other units to come in and clean up. Technically, they preform all the same duties as their counterparts in the Shield corps, but with greater power, accuracy, and ruthlessness. Displayed here is a typical example of a Vanguard soldier, just lacking a firearm and any auxiliary kit. The armor employed by these soldiers is extremely robust, possessing an incredible resistance to projectile-based kinetic weapons and shockwave impacts, though the thermal energy created by plasma or laser based weaponry is something this armor cannot resist as efficiently. Included within the kit of the Vanguard is a rudimentary powered exoskeleton designed to completely negate the weight of the user's armor, while also providing a minor boost to strength and mobility. The Vanguard also make frequent use of gauntlet mounted weapons, usually a compact railgun or shotgun package, as an additional measure in close-quarters combat.
