Hey found your piece through ProjectComment
Well not sure how you drew this, if you drew it first and then digitilize it, or if it was done with a 3d rendering program. But making me doubt either shows you are a good renderer, or a great artist with a talent for proportions.
I like the details on her head, and there are some very interesting details on her armor too. I like how she looks slightly bruised but more dirty, showing her confidence and experience as a warrior. and her armor does has a nice unbalance like one shoulder pad and different gauntlets and gloves, but you didn't make the same with the legs, showing restrain is a great idea on designing characters, less is more!
Now for some suggestions. For her pose you nailed her having one leg in front of the other as she is walking toward us, but her torso lacks the same movement, looking almost like 2 poses. Now this drawing reads more of a fantasy rogue assassin, than a sci fi warrior. I think that's maybe because she seems to be wearing a leather suit with black iron armor. I think she needs a bit more of a scifi on her outfit. kyliestylish's Black Widow mod: Avengers IW , maybe just a little bit of neon could help you there, or a slightly less medieval look female sci-fi armour 01 .
i know that design wise you may disagree, but these are my 2 cents for your armor to pop up a little bit more, as you it will accentuate more the present quality of your drawing and your shading.
Have a nice one!

Thanks for the comment!
You're kind of right about the armor design, I'm working on some different concepts (There are 3 other sci-fi warrior concepts in my gallery if youre interested), but I'm not into these bulky designs...

Hello there!
The first thing that caught my eye is that the anatomy is overall really well done, and the character is done in great detail!
The second thing, though, was how empty the overall image looked. If you just wanted to show off the character, it should have been cropped closer; if on the other hand you wanted to include a scenery, I feel it should have a touch more substance to it. I get a very dusty feel from this, which I assume is what you were going for, and perhaps were worried to lose by including more background detail? So maybe to preserve it, just adding a faint silhouette of what she's walking away from, obscured by the dust, would work. Here's an example that I think pulls it off quite well:
No one could deny there's a lot of fog or dust in the air, but there's still enough background visible to make use of atmospheric perspective and give the image a lot more depth.
I do like your colour choices for the background, the greenish and reddish hues make for an alive-looking scenery (I mean that literally, it's not a given in sci-fi after all!)
Moving on to the character, I really love her determined look and stride. The addition of the scrapes and dirt on the face which, judging from her expression, leave her completely unfazed really drives the point home that we are dealing with a real badass here! As a minor nitpick, I think the dirt could be distributed a little more unevenly - as is it's more or less even across her forehead and cheeks while leaving her nose and eye area completely clean.
The anatomy, as I mentioned earlier, looks pretty good overall. The arms could be a bit thicker, and her left hand looks pretty off - the back of the hand seems to be mostly missing, making the fingers look weirdly long and the thumb attached too low - but otherwise I can't really see anything wrong with it, good job!
As for the armour design, I really love the detail on the arms, especially that puzzle look of the left arm (is it a cyber prosthetic?) and the asymmetrical shoulderpiece. I feel the legs could do with the addition of a design detail or two, especially compared to the arms. And then there's the breastplate - of course it's a bit of a matter of taste, but I feel having two separate spaces for the boobs isn't at all necessary, so realistically there's no reason to include them in such a utilitarian piece of gear. But as I said, this one's definitely a matter of taste too
I like how you used the lighting to show different textures, showing the smoothness of the hard armour pieces in contrast with the soft material across her belly, and the leggings somewhere in between. However the lighting also brings me to my last point, and that's how the character and environment interact.
I see that you included touches of the background colour reflecting off the character in places, which is good and actually should be done much more to truly put her into that environment! Especially the lighting somewhat interferes with that effect - the main lighting on the armour and clothing appears to be white, while, especially with how thick the atmosphere appears to be, it should be tinted by the dust and be much closer to its colour. An artist I follow did a lovely tutorial on the subject - www.patreon.com/posts/tutorial… (While she practices a much more cartoony style than you, it explains quite well how to use environment colours in the lighting/shading, in my opinion!)
I hope this comment was somewhat useful! Keep up the good work!

Hi and thanks for the kind words!
As for the background, I wanted to have something there, but I couldn't figure out what it was and I couldn't decide on anything (and *whisper* : I'm shit at backgrounds! ) You're also right about the light on the armor, but I did this one on purpose. I wanted to make it look like she doesn't really belong there in the first place.
The armor is just one of many designs to come, you can stay tuned for more of her However, Im probably gonna stick with boobs, just bc I think that if men are allowed to walk in suits that portray an unrealistic amount of muscle definition, women should be allowed to wear stuff that accentuates their body, too (within reason ofc). If I was to design medieval armor, I wouldn't draw "breast"-plates, but sci-fi armor follows different rules, I guess

You're welcome! Re: backgrounds I can relate, they're hard (and time-consuming ) She certainly does look out of place, somewhat too polished? pretty? generally refined but in a cool way? to be in such a dirty environment.
Fair enough about the armour, heh^^

I thought this was a pic of Commander Shepard when I first clicked it.

Whoops, sorry I shouldn't have assumed you knew. There are two default Shepards, one male and the other female, John and Jane respectively. Obviously you can design your own character, those are just the defaults. I just thought your piece looked similar to her

oh shit, now that you say it ... I've heard of Jane Shepard, but I actually never took the time to look her up. Thought it was a fandom thing...
