Deathy (renamed Hoop-a-Joop) battles some jerk squid. I'm taking Marine Biology this year, and I've learned a lot of things, like how octopuses (turns out it's not "octopi") have emotions while squids just attack everything. Hoop's chainsaw tongue here is based on an octopus' radula, which is a tongue lined with rotating teeth, which could be compared to a chainsaw.No, octopuses don't have two tongues, and yes, octopuses and squids do have beaks, but some things have to be sacrificed for the sake of getting expressions across. Some things I DIDN'T make up, though, are that squids' tentacles (the two ones that I turned into arrows) ARE retractable, and that squids can hang in the water, motionless, like a spider in its web, while an octopus' tentacles would drift.
Typically, a squid would win in this situation, and that bite should've snapped off Hoop's tentacle, but I didn't have it in me to draw such a long fight. Tentacles aren't easy to keep track of. XP

No, I'm not making Hoop-a-Joop a webseries, it's what I plan to pitch as a TV series someday. If I do make a pilot myself, this will come in handy, though.

It's extra awesome because Hoop's personality was just something I was going to do because it's a cartoon, like how he has a normal cartoon mouth for the sake of expressions. BUT THEN I LEARNED THAT THEY REALLY ARE CAPABLE OF LOVE AND LEARNING AND STUFF LIKE THAT, AND IT WAS A BIG RELIEF. = D

ooh, that's great. too bad it had to end so fast though. i wanted to see that chainsaw tongue do some serious damage.
also, scientific facts in cartoons are great in general, but i don't really have anything else to add to your long list of scientific facts above other than squids have no bones and can squeeze through really small spaces. but that's generally known.

I think I read about a huge octopus that squeezed into a 1 - 3 inche space. THEM'S CRAZY.
Maybe I SHOULD've let Hoop's tongue kill Jerk Squid.... It's not like this would affect canon. XP I went into this hoping to animate all those tentacles attacking each other, but then I had to go to bed, so the oomph to do something that complicated was gone the next day.

they totally are. it seems like that would not only be physically impossible, but also unbearably painful. i have no idea on how any living organism could deal with that.
ha, it certainly wouldn't been a nice end. i'd like to see hoop win. or rather just something win. and i totally know how the drive to animate comes and goes. its rather frustrating.
