Even in your photography -especially the macros, there so many simetrics, that they remind me of your fractals...

Thank you very much. Actually I agree, I think they go well together in a gallery.

really terrific shot Anna... been looking for my digital photagraphy book... had to withdraw from a class last year but bought a pretty nice kind of lower end Olympus that I really wanted to try out... macro photography is a very cool kind of sub genre... its mazing the beautiful things we can see way down at the microscopic level (of course our every day camera aren't capable).. but whatever you are using is working nicely..

Thank you very much. I no longer have this Coolpix as I found it hard to use for macro and it generally produced rather noisy results. I always use my Raynox DCR-250 macro converter lens for macros if shooting with a compact - have gone back to my faithful Canon G11 again for a lot of that now. But I also use a dedicated Sigma 105mm macro lens on my Sony DSLR. Only thing is a DSLR is slower than the compacts because they require a smaller aperture to get the same DOF. Ok in the summer when the light is much brighter. You probably already know all that stuff!

nope... but thank you!... I do understand the terminology.. and had an OLD Nikon Coolpix... when they were huge... for taking jewelry photos (bastard cost me a grand... I wasn't impressed).. My dad was real shutterbug.. old Hasellblad... he always bought top shelf ... I found an old Pentax 35mm in my attic with a ton of lenses... was thinking of breaking it out for the heck of it... would love to learn how to develop old school just for grins... but I'm going to find my book for sure... I "see" pictures all the time... like this ancient dude down the street that is always standing by the curb in his overcoat... I see stories in faces and in the run down factories around here..

Street photography is full of interesting stories, particularly with the "old characters". I'd definitely say go for it! Some people (like Mike Shaw) go up to these people and actually dialogue with them and get them to tell their stories. Some of them are extremely touching.

I wish I'd had my cam the other day... there is a bridge near my house that slopes off on either side... there was a guy standing there on the downgrade, kind of in the middle of the road leaning on his cane... sort of taking a break I guess... I really should have stopped (feel bad but he was right front of the community center.. think that's where he was headed..) to ask if he was as lost as he looked... offer him a fiver and ask to take to take his pic... this an area VERY friendly to the blind, deaf and mentally challenged... In summer, when my dog was alive, the girls from ARC would walk some of these people in groups... they would love to stop and pet Cleo... we also have a lot of people who ride the roads on HoverRound.... one guy really sticks out... you can tell he's a vet... but he will be driving around the snow for cryin out loud... just taking care of business... I find myself thinking "hope the battery doesn't die"... some inspiring characters..

Sounds as though you live in a particularly interesting area. We have to go into Poole itself to find the characters, and the fishermen too along the quay.. I'm rarely down there these days, but I should make the effort really.

"interesting"... thats a polite word ... my town is where the movie "A Wonderful Life" was made... our big claim to fame is that it is the birth place of Womens rights... then we have (up the road) the birthplace of memorial day... and further up the road is the trout fishing capital of the world... I call it the capital of teen pregnancy ... very depressed area... Some really goo local wines though... too bad you can't get the food to go with it...
