Traditional lines (nib pen and ink) + digital color. Nib takes some getting used to (read: is actually terrifying don't push the pen or ink will splatter watch out for dripping ink don't breathe while drawing don't accidentally smudge everything now grip the pen like a vise) buuuuut I prefer the lines to digital ones because making things difficult for myself is how I roll.

Fun fact: Most of the fish are based on species native to the area.

Entry for
Name: Angela H.
Description: The sandstone waves of Antelope Canyon  were carved out of the rock by rushing water. I was fortunate enough to visit a few years ago and marvel at the flowing lines firsthand, all the while blinking sand out of my eyes.
Flash floods still occur in the canyon, continuously shaping the stone. But because these floods are incredibly dangerous, I can only imagine—with a generous helping of creative license—how one might look after the initial surge of water has subsided.

Yoooo I'm going to be part of the book!

I think we can just agree that we don't have to apologize for being late about commenting on anything, because art life will never let either of us be on time with these things any more 8D;

and dude, thanks! I really need to try this method out again.

Ah, thank you so much!

(and whoa, I thought something about your work looked familiar, and then I realized I saw your Nephthys and Set piece on Tumblr just recently. Keep up the beautiful work!)

Definitely my favorite for this contest! I thought it was the grand canyon at first, but I like your idea better I especially like the incorporation of the wheat icon and how you drew the figure the same way you drew the rocks!

Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you noticed those details, especially the figure; I wanted it to look like it belonged to that space.

Funnily enough, I've never been to the Grand Canyon. I imagine it would feel very different from Antelope Canyon--less intimate and more about the, well, grandeur.
