Description This was created a year ago for a card game I helped to make while at SCAD called "Shift". Although the work I did was severly underappreciated, I still made a few illustrations that I was pretty proud of. I forget what name this guy had- he's a standard type of alien though, the cannon fodder as it were. Everyone thought the aliens looked like dragons, and that kinda annoyed me because in my experience most aliens are designed to have bug-like traits, and you don't hear people screaming that they look like bugs. But because the aliens I designed didn't follow the bug-like stereotype, everyone claimed they were too much like dragons. Sheesh -_- I just wanted to break the mould a little. Seems like extra limbs is a must-have for alien species. Oh well, I revamped the design a little bit (only sketches) so maybe the next run would have been more sucessful, if the progress with the game continued.

I created this whole crazy idea that the aliens of this planet (the name of which I do not recall) ate solidified lava (rocks/ore hurr hurr) of which contained some kind of bacteria or life-form that could survive in lava and both in rock in a dormant state. This bacteria of sorts is a vital part of the alien's life cycle as it builds up within the alien over time (resulting in the glowing lava-like areas), and these bacteria cells start to shape and form a new creature within the alien itself, and when ready, the new being will burst through the alien shell, thus killing the original creature but allowing for a stronger, more adaptable being to emerge. Which is like a crazier version of the alien it emerged from, parasitic-esque, more vicious, with more appendages and whatnot. That's the idea I had been throwing around, anyways. I thought it was cool. And then if humans were attacked by these aliens, and infected with a wound that contained the bacteria, it would multiply and would form within the human host as well, eventually breaking through and releasing a human-esque alien crazy thing and all that fun stuff. Not exactly like being turned into an alien, or infested, but more like the host is a shell, a mould, and the new creature kind of forms inside, "stealing" the organs of the host for itself, like a parasite, then completely eradicating the host when it reaches maturity (???). Something like that. I thought it would be cool. >_>

hng, sorry to hear that everyone thought that your aliens looked like dragons. i can imagine how annoying that must have been.
well, they definitelly do not look like dragons - they look like a badass predator type of creature from a whole different world! 8D

i love the glowing parts that the bacteria create and i could totally imagine that the glow gets more vibrant throughout the whole process of creating the new, more powerfull, being that will emerge of the hosts body, maybe with the possibility to keep the hosts mind and thinking while just destroying its physical body (making the host live in symbiosis together with it till it's fully grown and then vice versa continues with giving the host the opportunity to live as sort of a higher being together with the new thing it becomes).
hah, that would be cool. 8D thanks for the inspiration there!
anyway, really nice concept and great idea behind it!

Yeah x_x I thought it was unfair T^T Thanks, though, I'm glad you approve of their design!!

That's exactly how it would happen! I'm glad my vision got across to you so easily :D Over time, the glowing parts would become more vibrant, and "cracks" would appear in the skin of the host (cool glowing cracks, obviously hur hur) and then the parasitic creature would emerged fullformed from the host, which is more like a husk. The parasitic being would become self-sustainable (is that even a word? x_x ) and is an entirely different being from the host. The host is very much a temporary symbiotic bond. The parasite slowly takes over the host's systems, slowly changing it from the inside-out, modifying it's systems and replacing it with it's own. I was thinking that humans can also get infected with this parasite, which would make a cool/creepy enemy. Okay I'm done ranting >_>

I'm happy that it has inspired you! Thank you for the comment!!
