Well, ever since we had this sort of image as the cover of a poetry HS publication, (not officially HS all the time), I've liked these.
This one is even more distinct - less rough. So you Could do what I saw there, and rough it up in certain places, make it darker to add emphasis. But as I've already seen that before, I offer:
you could draw around it! Even in black and white, any sort of background would give it more realism, perhaps, than any given set of shading might, of it.
Coloring around it could give it a statuesque flair.

The lines are truely the best part... and if you were to paint it id say to use water colour (at least first if you were to do acrylic). with the water colour you can keep those fluid lines nicely (:

This is beautiful. The lines have such movement and are so suggestive of life. Beautiful.
Id be too scared to paint it.
