Description These are cuir bouilli greaves made by baking glue soaked 3.5mm thick dyed-through vegtan until pliable and then hard. Only two segments of armour died in this exercise (on the greaves and bracers), which is better than my normal success rate with straight up boiling the leather (anyone fancy prawn crackers?).

It stays flexible, but still requires a dremel to do much in the way of modification. I tested a duff greave against several different blades, with a wooden post as an analogue for a leg. Knives, unless stabbing straight on with a *lot* of force didn't get through. Slashing knives didn't stand a chance. I also tested the duff greave with a machete and a wood chopping axe. In both cases, unless the hit was square on, the blow slid off the armour. And in both cases, when the hit was square on, the reverse of armour tore rather than being cut, leaving only a dent in the wood. This leads me to think that as long as padding were worn underneath, there would be no cut. Perhaps a broken or badly bruised leg, but there would not be bleeding as much of the force of the blow was absorbed. Amazing stuff! I did finally manage to cut through the armour with two direct hits in the exact same place, however.

Made for LARP, but using a design similar to 15th century armour (I like smaller knee cops).

Those are pretty slick. I like it! Mind if I use these as a reference when I put together a drawing?

Of course not. That's quite the compliment -- thank you

Good looking pair of greaves. They look like they would offer solid protection and not limit your mobility too badly due to the segmented knee.

Thank you There's also a strip of protective leather on the inside to give a little cushioning against falling. Apparently it works like a dream, which makes me very happy as these were my first go at this style
