Description These are my new bracers -- a proof of concept for my second go at designing on metal. I made my own tools for the metal patterns, which was an interesting process. The triskele was a design picked for several reasons, and the dotting is based on designs on treasure in Saxon hordes.

The bracers themselves are made using 2.4mm thick vegtan leather and the stitched face is 2mm thick leather. I used ribbon for the closure due to personal preference.

Made to go with this helm: [link]

mine are too, I hope you won't mind me assimulating your technique into something of my own? I'll give credits of course but I was working on upgrading some old leather bracers and this just gave me new juice on where to go with it

Cheers hun! Ha... I went to a market and bought some old screwdrivers, and had others off Dave. I also bought a couple of centrepunches from eBay to make the holes to set it.

The screwdrivers got filed down until they were rounded like this: [link] I made a large one and a small one, both of the same thickness so that the spirals could be turned properly. I used a phillips head end to make the larger dots in the centre, a filed down dremel screw piece for the smaller bits, and a odd rounded solid metal handle for the central boss.

I marked out the design in the back using an alcohol marker, though I traced it on in the first place using a wax-carving tool that looks like a metal pen. The metal curved itself as I worked it, into the shape perfect for the bracer. I also used a light hammer and a heavy hammer to get different impressions -- it does actually make a difference.

The carvings got put into place with a piece of 3.5mm thick scrap leather between the metal and the anvil.

Wow! Excellent job!! If I ever get back into swinging a sword again I will look to you for help making armour! Nice job on the design in the metal. I am glad to see the small detail of the knot pattern on the trim of the bracers. Kudos for keeping the nurmology power symbols also! Good job!

Thank you for the link to Morgenhead amazing work she does!
I do hope she finds her happiness in Germany. You are welcome, you do excellent work. I now want to get back to making another knife and sheath. Both of you inspired some thoughts in that area!
I just need to get my shop back from being a storage room for my Eldest daughter's estate.
I should have the proof done this week for the women's wallet I am making.
Take care!
Cheers!

Yeah -- her work is fantastic. I hope she's doing okay over there. She's gone off the radar in the last few weeks, so hopefully it's just settling in stuff. And thank you

Ha! I inflicted that on my father when I went to college 12 years ago. I think it's something all kids do to their parents!

Sweet! Looking forwards to seeing it!

You too, my dear

Very nice, I particurlarly like your combination of stitching and riveting, not usually found in juxtoposition like that.

Thanks -- It's a look I've been experimenting with a little lately, partly because I really like the flatness you get with the stitching, but I still want it to be riveted because... well, it's armour! lol! It's really getting my saddle stitch speed up, I tell ya!
