Considering the conversions its gone through, I think the Ent-E has survived pretty well. It may not have a lot of bump mapping or detail on it, but thats not Archangels fault. Trek ships are never the most crusty ships anyway, its a much cleaner look than other sci-fi universes.

Where I think it could have been better is in the lighting. The picture looks a bit flat, there's no depth of field used, but then thats normal for most static CGI pictures. The best way to highlight foreground and background elements in its absence is therefore lighting. The strong light source off camera to the right has created some lovely highlights on the satellite and shuttle, but because there is still lots of light from elsewhere the whole Ent-E is lit and blends in with the satellite. If there had been only a bit of fill on the Ent-E, the satellite would have stood out more and put the Ent-E in the background a bit more.

It's still a nice picture and an interesting composition, I like the idea a lot. With a bit of tweaking it could really pop and be a bit more menacing & dramatic.

Needs bumps. ya, I see what you mean. I got speculars on it, but I am not sure of the uv's on the conversion. I will def be continuing to work on this one. Each work is a learning exp!

sure bumps would be nice but what i mean is i dont get the metal feeling maybe "matte" would have been a better descript then "flat"...

give these surface settings a spin for a more metallic feel...

diffuse: 45-60
luminosity: -15 (minus 15)
spec: 35
gloss: 10
reflection: 15-45

try it and DONT fear reflections

if you want ill hook you up with another light setup that works great for "space"...
