This is the eighth image from a series entitled Everything Must Go, a study of Whitley Bay and the state that it is in. This was produced as a college project, and while it's something of a botch-job I think it's a theme that I can develop further using different locales, or even all of them culmitavely.

This image was taken on Whitley Road, which is the main shopping street that cuts through the town. The building in question has been closed so long I can't remember what was there, and it's across the road from a closed supermarket and a number of other former establishments.

The composition isn't as clear-cut and neat as I would have liked (the lack of feet is annoying me) but it's better than nothing at all.

There will be more from this series, along with a continuation of uploads for the Deadwood series of shots taken at Cramlington Park, in the near future. Expect me to break up the Whitley Bay shots with some plant-life fairly soon.

For all that the cropping does detract, the sheer number of layers and interlocking planes make this amazing.

I've attempted to revise that crop issue with today's update. I'm glad you like the shot all the same, though.

There's honestly too much to love to let one element take away from the whole (:

I love the play with reflection in this and how it seems like endless layers upon layers.

Hallo concise. Hah.

I'm still bothered by the crop in this.

For some reason I want you to shift it a little towards the lower left corner, but I get the feeling you would have already done so if you could.

Yeah, I did the best I could with what I had but it wasn't enough, seemingly. Still, it's an effect that I can fiddle with again in future.

As long as there are people walking and somewhat clean store-front windows, I think you'll be all right.

It's a shame that the man was partially cut off in this photo. However, I really enjoy how you captured him walking into the dark, mysterious room. Great job!

Yeah, I wish I had more time to to frame the shot. All the same, I appreciate the comment and the favourite-list addition: I'm glad that you like it.

You're welcome. Even though this was a last minute project, I think it's a really good concept. There's definitely a strong story that goes with these photographs and it helps to pull the audience into this desolate community.

Thank-you, again. It's definitely a concept I'm going to explore further in future, as there's certainly no shortage of ran-down areas for me to document.

I really like this one. The empty, desolate building with a reflection of the busy life passing by it everyday. Two extremes that oddly fit very well together.

I agree, there's an interesting contrast in the piece. Thank-you for taking the time to comment, and for placing this into your Favourites: I appreciate that.
