To counter the threat of an airborne assault by the Luftwaffe, the Home Guard manned observation posts where soldiers spent every night until almost the end of the war continuously watching the skies. To spread word in the event of an invasion, the Home Guard set up a relatively simple code to warn their compatriots. For instance, the word 'Cromwell' indicated that an invasion was imminent, and 'Oliver' meant that said invasion had commenced.

This is the second image to be uploaded from a wind-swept and overcast morning in Whitley bay in February. The actual function of this building is unknown to me, but after post-work it brought up images of the Battle Of Britain in my head, and specifically the Chain Home radar and the watch-towers of the Home Guard against German bombings and possible incursions.

This is my little piece of memoria for The Few and the Home Guard, lame as it may be.

It feels old. The atmosphere you've created in your crop and post-work is something foreboding.

A feeling of age is what I was going for, along with what else you described. So that's good. Hah.

Oh those fade-to-black edges. <3

I'd be lying if I didn't say it was lovely, in its own dark way.
(O WAIT I LIE ALL THE TIME, DON'T I. >\)
The subject focus is obvious, but it's that bright spot in the sky beyond, that you want to stare out at, waiting, and watching all that static in the air.

I had a dream that took place in Whitley Bay a few weeks ago. That was sort-of odd.

Can't go wrong with a bit of vignette from time to time. It can be more effective than a border.

This is one that I am reasonably content with; I have a couple more from the same photoshoot that I'll put up... at some point.

That is rather odd.

I've got the biggest migraine as of this moment, and all I can really say about this piece of artwork is this: beautiful.

Thank-you for that. It came out all right, I guess; I had no hope for the few shots that I took but I've got another two from the set to upload in the near future. Has that pesky migraine gone away yet?
