looking on deviantart the most populair, always gives me inspiration for new ideas and i can learn new tecniques ^_^
but i dont expect to see something like this. i have seen great artist here. no offence but to be honestly im not really here to see the art work of someone who just started to pic up drawing.
this is work that inspires me:

I appreciate that you were at least somewhat considerate in expressing your opinions, but don't complain to the artist herself. It's not her fault she's not up to your standards, which are a bit unfair, if you ask me. If you're going to complain about a piece that you are disappointed to see, comment on every piece you see on deviant art that doesn't inspire you or is 'of someone who just started to pick up drawing', instead of on someone who happened to be the victim of a glitch. (In this case, the effects were positive and negative for the artist)
And, no offense, but advertising other works that you think deserve more attention on this deviation is really rude. How do you know that she didn't put a lot of effort into this sketch? I know some of my sketches take a while to look good. And honestly, the more I read your comment, the ruder it looks.
Think about others before you post, and if you have a problem with dA, talk to the moderators.

and the reason why i put those links of other artist is maybe that she might learn something from it ass well.

i didnt blame her if thats what u are saying. i think all artist and everyone who loves art is welcome on deviantart.
and by reading my coment you can take it the good way or the wrong way. dont read a coment thats a lil negative as only bad. if i really hated it so much i wouldnt tell her to keep on going with her art. i think she has great potential for drawing so i say keep on going.
its true the modetors of deviant should pay more atention on the site itself.
and i dont really juige people on how much effort they put in it. but i speak from experiance how much time someone can put in his/her work. not precisaly but i can take a good guess. and as for sketches it wouldnt take more than 1/2 hours. depends on how skilled you are. for me it would take 3/5 min.
i know people who spent 40 hour on just one drawing (a complete drawing)

Of course this person shouldn't blame the artist for this, but it's true that the current front page looks like your average 'newest' page. And you say it yourself, it's a sketch. I think the fact that it's on lined paper alone testifies that she didn't put as much effort in this as are put in most front page works.
I do agree that this is a moderator problem, clearly DA has been malfunctioning since this piece is too old to be on the 8 hour-front page to begin with.

I never said I thought that these drawings should be on the front page over others who rightfully should have, had dA been working right. And I've seen plenty of sketches by more famous artists make it on the front page (glitch-free). And who says her choice of paper shows lack of effort? Did you ever consider that could be all she had available at the time, and she just happened to like the way the sketch came out? And personally, I think it's sometimes fun to draw on lined paper. I do every now and then. My point in responding wasn't to say that Renee's irritation had no reason; I was pointing out that she was directing it the wrong way and insulting one of the artists who was affected by the glitch.
I do, too. I thought the glitch would at least refresh to newer artwork every eight hours, but I guess not. We can only hope that the moderators fix the problem soon.

Hmm, famous artist or not, I don't think sketches should be on the front page. But lately I often don't agree with what's on the front page.
Also, I buy paper especially for drawing. Art sucks up my money, but I think it does show effort to at least trace it on better paper before you post it.
I agree with your main point though, Renee should have directed their comment to someone else.

I think it depends on how well-formed the sketch is or if it'd just a few basic lines to start off a drawing.
I don't think good art necessarily depends on the tools; although I agree that it's more professional to use art paper, which I generally use if I'm going to color traditionally. Otherwise I use printing paper for lineart when I'm coloring digitally.
Agreed, because I miss seeing some of my favorite artists on the front page, since I usually don't have time to sift through all the deviations in my inbox and see all of them.

Very nicely done sketch! I like your smooth lines! The face is very pretty too! Your pose is really getting there too!
You may want to consider using an stick figure armature first...before drawing. It'll help you with your forms and will also help you understand how poses work. You have a knack for drawing such pretty faces (based on this and others in your gallery). I think with some more planing before a piece ( eg a stick figure armature) you will improve greatly!
Next time you draw a dress blowing in the breeze, try to think of a direction the breeze is coming in and how the cloth would react in response. I know this was prob done in class or something...but a great real life reference is to look at drapery in your home. Let a fan hit it in a similar direction as your picture...you can really get a good idea of the vertical folds and forms during this.
Most flowy dresses...unless the wind is coming from below...will have vertical folds over horizontal.
Also, wings! I have a REALLY hard time with them aswell. But you seem to have a good grasp on the basic shape of the near one. Another way to help is to start with a oval on it's side attached to the back...then attach a larger circle...then attach smaller longer ovals to that ( those being your longer feathers). That structure should help. Also, keep in mind that bird and angle wings have small tightly knit feathers towards the joints of the wing...
