Description
A single moment of time,frozen for all the aeons to come.
Capturing what will never happen again,
lest the memories disappear into oblivion.

I was at the skatepark today.
Met some nice people.
Quite nice, actually.
I liked them.
And they were all okay with me taking pictures.
So then followed maybe two - three hours of sitting in uncomfortable positions.
Often in the middle of the ramps.
Desperately trying to avoid incoming bikes, skateboards, and skates.
'Twas great.
And I got some neat pictures.
They even wanted me to come back to the skatepark.
Take more pictures of them.
Damn... I really think this is going to work out excellently.
And this picture... I really like it.
The way the guy isn't in the middle of the picture.
Just a detail of the entirety of the memory.
Frozen.
The only thing I regret, is not getting all of him.
Bloody feet's missing.
Ah well.

The movement is well captured. Monochromatic tones also cheer my eyes. Feet are slightly cropped, that's not good.
I wonder how it would look in higher contrast.

Heh, I've been so very annoyed by those feet. I wish I had the entire him in the picture! I'll be going back to the park in a week or so. I'll definitely try to do a remake then

Now something I can give you a "valid" critique on since I studied it for about 3 years
Image is nice and crisp and clean, no blur - I'm assuming you used a fast shutter speed. Freakin' awesome job Duffs, you're really kicking photography's ass

Mm, when having the main thing to look at out of the center, it makes room for so many extra details in the left out space. Or simply making it pretty with the emptiness.
Shutter speed was... 1/1000 seconds, I believe. Yesterday was a sunny day, which was part of the reason as to why I even went over there. I knew I'd need some fast shutter speed to get the jumps right

Ah the rule of thirds, basically what you do is "draw" three vertical and horizontal lines. When they cross each other they make 9 squares. The one that's completely in the center is the one you tend to avoid. . .now obviously you don't have to do this
Ah interesting, something else that might help you is changing the f-stop especially when you're working with faster shutter speeds. Since you want to get the most amount of light

I like that detail, too. Kind of wish I'd have asked some more kids to just... come over to in front of where I was standing, and just stare at the skater in awe, as he took the salto
