Description I've always wanted to try my hands on a classic countryside painting. This painting shows what a Finnish farm might have looked like in 18th century.

Painted digitally in Corel Painter, ArtRage, and Photoshop.

I would love to know how do you transition from one software to another, just love the way it has this traditional look

They all support .psd so it's easy to switch between the apps.

*nods* Any particular things you do with each software?

arisuonpaa In reply to saltytowel [2014-08-01 04:23:22 +0000 UTC]

Corel Painter for the initial sketch and colors, ArtRage for painting over the low resolution sketch, and Photoshop for color adjustments and unsharp mask filter at the end of the painting process.

I see, now I understand *nods*
Myself and Corel Painter were never really good friends. I either go traditional -> scan -> photoshop, or SAI->photoshop or only photoshop (favorite option, no hassle of moving the files around ).

The really cool thing about this is, I remember you as the person who gave me my first llama on this site, and I will be forever grateful for the smile that you gave me ^ ^ It was so overwhelming knowing that you actually visited my page and knew I existed. So, thank you. And congratulations on the Daily deviation!

I've never lived in the countryside, nor in the 18th century (of course), but when I look at this picture, I feel homesick... really. It is so well done, I can almost feel the clear air and hear the little afternoon birds singing around. Thank you very much for sharing such beauty...

...Finland should be a beautiful place, as I see from this picture...

There is something distinctively Finnish about the picture. Romantic nationalism at its best. I think Gallen-Kallela would have approved

The cool shadow of the hut looks very inviting on a hot day.

I've always liked farms for some reason. This painting sums it all up in 1 picture, which is an amazement on its own. I personally love this, I heart the cabin peeking in the corner and the river, the painting takes me back to the good old countryside!Β
