Goodness me, that is amazing! The anatomy of the tank and the texture is so realistic it looks as if I could physically touch it. Also the cartoon style of the humans contrasts and blends nicely with the realistic surroundings. Well done.

I absolutely love this tank. When some Russian trash asks if my country's tank can fly, I tell them "No, it gets the job done like any good tank and has a combat record to prove it."

nice drawing, but.... there were no Abrams-T72 clashes in Iraq. Iraqis lost their T72 after air force attacks. American tanks had fire contact with the outdated T62/57 / 55 and their Chinese counterparts. real fire contact Abrams and T72 was in Lebanon in 1972. won the Syrians on the T72 tank)

About Lebanon, a typo with the date. In fact 1982 the first collision Abrams-T72.
"It is believed that the "desert Storm" was a victory over the T-72 – one of the most formidable Soviet tanks. But! Iraq had no more than 1,000 of them, and the invasion forces advanced almost two thousand Abrams. They were upgraded before the invasion to M1A1 (German gun, armor and depleted uranium shells), which took into account the collision with potential Soviet tanks and well-trained Soviet tankers. Iraqi T-72s, like all export weapons, had some differences. First, in the forehead of the tower and these machines were conventional homogeneous armor, not a layered – like on Soviet tanks. And secondly, the armor-piercing shells that Hussein's tankers had, Soviet tankers stopped using back in 1973. Add to that the demoralization caused by constant bombing and less functional fire control system – and everything will fall into place."

It's always cool to see some more modern tanks. The M1 Abrams has always been a fav. Also, you can't beat the writing on the barrel... it's just such an American thing.

Just this iconic flat boxturret I love it!
The Abrams is one of my favorite new era MBTs, though lately i moving more over to the Leclerc. But there is just something classic to this American (wich doesn't get old).

I spoke with a M1 tank commander who was in the first Iraq battle. He commanded a platoon of M1s.
He said this was the most pitiful thing he remembered. The Iraqi guns only had an effective range of 800 yard. The M1 sabot APDS had a range of 3,300 yards.
They were hitting those Iraqis before they could even fire back.
At first there were cheers. Then he remembered. Those tanks were crewed. He just killed 4 guys who didn’t stand a chance. Sent by a madman who did not care.
He looked sadden as he went on how the remainder of the battle was much more somber.

The Mega Factories episode showing the rebuild and upgrade of older M1's to newer specs goes to show these bad boys will live a long life. Waiting for the day some country mounts a magnetic railgun on a tank, then the range will be extraordinary.

I hope to see a bunch of M1 Abrams tearing up the roads on parade in Taipei XD
It'll be epic!
Unfortunately for the Iraqis, not only were most of their equipment dated, but the tanks sold to them by the Soviet Union were the export models which tended to not be as good as the good stuff Russia kept for itself.
Apparently as a test one of the early M1 Abrams had its speed governor removed and it managed to clock up at 80 mph (128 kph). Much to the protest of the tracks.
Looking forward to that CM-11! You're spoiled for choice on the Leopard 2, so many countries have these like Singapore, Spain, Canada, Sweden, Indonesia, Chile etc.

With the Leo 2 its going to be a nightmare, a lot of countries, but I can only pick one.
Unless...we could do a Leopard 2 collab. Get multiple artists together to each do a separate leopard of each country.

I really lie your drawing, and I would really like to see you draw the T-55 Enigma as I find it to be very fascinating!
I'd like to throw my 2-cents into the discussion on whether or not MBTs and tanks, in general, are a thing of the past, I simply say, "Yes/No". If you look at the current battlefield, every nation fields them, and that tells me that the tank is a very potent and useful battlefield asset. However, I feel that better gun platforms will come about in the coming decades. I foresee that in the next 50 years or so, something may come along to challenge or outright replace the mighty tank. But when this day comes we must not cry in anger or sadness at this changing of the guards, we must rejoice as the tank as served around the world for the past 100 years with honor. They have earned their rest if you ask me. Like the Calvary before them, we should be ready to relinquish the tank to the history books.

I like your perspective on it, just like horse cavalry, chariots and everything else, they have their day in the son. But with tanks, man I just dont know. Theyre so rugged yet Elegant, ya know? If they do become obsolete, their legacy sure as heck wont.

TinkerTanker44432 In reply to Arjay-the-Lionheart [2019-09-22 14:25:34 +0000 UTC]
I don't think tanks will become obsolete because one of the main reasons tanks are still in use (from what I can tell) is because tracks offer far better off-road mobility than simply wheels. You can make a 70 ton tracked vehicle, and a 70-ton wheeled vehicle and the tracked vehicle will be able to go over more loose/unstable terrain than the wheeled vehicle due to ground pressure, weight dispersion, etc.
