Thank you! The clouds are the reason why I put the first one up back in October 2006 - even though I never even "saw" the one I posted today..... now that time has passed, I like the details that I somehow never realized was in the "new" image..

This is a beauty i'd like to see it with the brightness toned down a touch though.. make it jump

I'll look at it again... one thing I found was that when I darkened it a little, I lost the autumnish feel of the mountain. However, I should be able to tone down the brighter areas and leave the darker ones alone...

I have found that just turning the brightness down is enough.. contrast i only use a minimal.

i would crop more

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

arkansawyer In reply to RobertsGallery [2006-10-29 03:04:09 +0000 UTC]

I didn't crop any - well, I take that back... when I resize an image from my camera, the ratio comes down to 1026x768 and I usually crop the two outside pixels... leaving 1024x768.

However... I understand the thought there... Thanks... And I do that with some photos...

very nice, the train adds alot to the photo and is placed perfectly, the clouds also look almost painted!

I had a chance for 2 or 3 shots of the train but this one was the one that 'did it'.

it was a lucky combination of the sun coming out from under a cloud and the train crossing at just the right time!

pretty soon, the bridge will be overtaken by the flora.

it's rollen round the bend
but i ain't seen the sunshine
since i don't know when"

the bridge has been there over a hundred years now. there are stalactites growing under the arches!!!

I have tried to get a photo of them a couple of times but it's hard to get the right perspective... one of these days I will.

get a boat

arkansawyer In reply to Ohno-moment [2006-10-26 14:29:25 +0000 UTC]

the ferry is just up the creek... actually the road passes under one of the arches, it's just that the lighting there is bad... maybe if I hit it at the right time of day or something.........

Ohno-moment In reply to arkansawyer [2006-10-26 15:47:15 +0000 UTC]

flash it or change the iso
i still think you should get a boat

arkansawyer In reply to Ohno-moment [2006-10-26 17:17:30 +0000 UTC]

Maybe when I finally cough up the money to ride the ferry, it'll get carried away by the downcurrent, and lodge a few miles downstream at this bridge... and I can take them at my leisure while we're waiting for rescue. Maybe.

awww... where's your sense of adventure... being washed down the river on a ferryboat that's loaded down with cars... gee whiz - that sounds funner than a row boat!!!

does it get solid under the bridge

arkansawyer In reply to Ohno-moment [2006-10-27 15:26:30 +0000 UTC]

I think it gets solid everywhere - if it stays cold long enough.. this winter past it did not.

I suppose... perhaps I could do a day-long float trip by canoe... and stop while going under...

make sure you have water proof storage for the equipment. I'd go with something more stable that a canoe

So... someone suggested I paint this eh? have to think about that... and reading along your page, it seems one can find lots of tips and tricks to photography,... unfortunlately, I have little spare time to read that much on a regular basis.. you know what it's like, one must make choices.
But I 'm with the above group.. a fine photo indeed!

Yes.. I am looking for that special one that touches me like the last three have... not that this one is not a nice shot.. but as a painting, i agree with you, others may be more suitable. k.

and hey... I have noticed in my own photography that some photos 'do it' for me, and others do not... then later, a different day, a different me, I look and boom... hey, that one's just right! (when I didn't even care for it before....) I either see it in a new light, or think of a better way to present it, or whatever.......

You might appreciate this one... I actually went down by the riverbank, but the rivers a little high for some reason, so then I trudged up through the weeds and over piles of washed up debris (mostly sticks and things)... to find a place along the bank where I could get a shot without trees in the way...

(I might have ruined a good pair of work pants in the process)
