It's probably not a winning entry, but I wanted to do something a little special for my last piece of paper from my pad. Don't worry I have more!
Story:
From underneath Chili Tarek observed the way Emilia was weaving her way between the other competitors' horses. She was always cautious not to get too close to any of their backsides and thus had to take a bit of an extralong way around.
He came back up after finishing Chilis leg wraps and used his horse as a bit of an armrest. "Hello, pretty woman. What has brought you to this dusty rodeo arena?" He grinned happily, just admiring his beautiful fiancee. She hummed as if deep in thought and mustered the bridle in her hands. "It might be because a very handsome cowboy invited me but then he forgot his bridle in the car and now he can't ride his horse." "Well, his loss is my win! You see fair lady, I also happen to be missing a bridle for my trusty steed here." He gave a pat on Chilis rump. Something the gelding acknowledged with a snort. "If you would hand me the bridle, I would win the gold medal just for you!" "Well, I can't do much with a gold medal. But tomorrow is Valentines' day and there is supposed to be a dance party. Maybe you could take me out to that." "Of course! Do you have your boots with you? I heard there will be square dancing." "Oh god." And now their whole spiel devolved into a fit of giggling. Finally, Emilia handed over the bridle and Tarek went ahead and got Chili out of the halter. He was delighted to see Emmy stroke along his chestnuts back, even if it was a bit tentatively. She had heard enough stories from Tarek about the horses' somewhat grumpy behavior. But it was a step forward!
"Do you want to give him a treat?" he asked her carefully. She hesitated a second but then asked. "Can I?" "Of course! He's been very good during the cleaning and tacking, so I think he deserves one!" Tarek dived straight into his cleaning box and fished out Chilis' favorite snacks, cookies with eucalyptus. He handed it to Emilia and instructed her to keep her palm perfectly flat so that Chili didn't accidentally get her thumb. As soon as she got close to his muzzle the treat was already gone. "That tickled!" she giggled. "God, how could anyone be this cute?", thought Tarek. "Yeah, their muzzles are very soft and sensitive. Good to see that the two of you are starting to get along. Maybe one day I can convince you to try out riding. Get you your own horse! What would you like? A nice sleek Thoroughbred? A dark and handsome Friesian? A cute Fjordi? Maybe a Quater Horse Friend for Chili? A ..." "Shetlandpony?" "Dildoequine?" "What?" And now Tarek remembered that he wasn't joking around with his friend Zinno, but his fiancee. Quickly he tried to save himself. " A Wild Equine. Yeah. Have I told you that Joshua apparently applied for a wild horse? Isn't that exciting? He gets to be a real cowboy." In the end, his voice became wistful and dreamy. A kiss on his cheek woke him out of his daydream. "You are the only cowboy I'd ever want."
Featuring:
- Me trying to be cute.
- They are a really cute couple ok? Even if I might not be able to really convey that.
- They might get a horse later? Riding lessons, then horse? Who knows?
- Those were supposed to be hearts on Chilis wraps. Now they are colorful dots, or apples as Nat suggested.
