great composition and very well rendered.. it looks as real as a photograph but still has the expressive painting texture. Props!

wow i love your work. everything has a mood, some story behin it. i ilke this one a lot - the rendering is so good. love your use of color, gives it a wamr feeling and yet the figure provides tension. i love the fact that you didn't make the stairwell right in the middle - not a big fan of symmetry...

One criticism I have of this greatly intriguing piece is the use of your colors, I really liked the warm feel of the hallway, but your depth using black (maybe it's just the picture/scan??) a coolish black doorway in the background as well as in the hair and the part that holds the railing has a confusing depth. I've found that a redder black gives much more depth. Perhaps though you want the viewer to... stop at the door, like even the darkness is closing in, but I guess what I'm talking about can best be seen on the work you did with the jeans, it works for the actual presence of the jeans but there's a line between the theigh and leg that flattens it out and the same goes for the foot, next to the darkness of the background the white shirt actually recedes and the cool black 'pops' out. With all the very anal blah blah blahnesss, I love the step that you include of the stairs, it keeps the viewer away from getting involved just enough that you don't just feel helpless, but the figure is at the edge. The amount of skin you show of the figure is actually rather sexy, however the situation of the subject is such an opposite feeling, I shouldn't be aroused, I should be helping! There's a gazing guilt. One of my favorite parts of this piece is how the light pushes itself through the door to the other side. It's almost oppressive becauset the figure finds solace in darkness trying to avoid the light. Great piecesssss.

Reminds me of how kids listen to their parents arguing downstairs. Or maybe that's just me?

I love it.

I like the pose.. leaned against the wall like that
the composition is good.
the painting technique ... maybe work on your blending a bit.... smooth things out a bit

but over all a great work

I thought this one looked great and then I saw the foot. I dont know something about it bothers me. Seems too small or at a weird angle. Maybe you need to add more shadow to it. Just a thought.

Yeah I don’t know if I like the foot either the reason it looks small is because she has it turned a bit so it’s pointing away from you.

your paintings are beautiful-- but this one stood out amoung the rest for me. i love the dark and light rooms you give the viewer-- and then the figure in this dramatic pose. i also really enjoy seeing your brush strokes. your persective rocks the house as well.

one thing i've noticed.. it all seems to be kind of floating around.. the walls, the stair rail, as if it was liquid. maybe because of the brush strokes, which works very well with the painting. maybe it's just me though
