Edit: Wow, First Comedy Central showed my work and then it went viral from [link] and buzzfeed.com [link] and even thinkgeek.com tweeted me! This is unreal..Finished in a couple of hours over a span of 3 days.
sculpted in super sculpey blend.

Using a sea star as the face rather than squid tentacles is fantastic, as they provide more room for the mouth and don't distract too much from the face. Kudos!

These sculptures are wonderful! I've never seen the Futurama characters portrayed realistically. These would be great costume and character references if anyone ever does a non-animated Futurama movie.

I played off the idea of using large brow ridges found in homo neanderthal along with the shell of the lobster. Inspiration can come from nature and 2 years of anthropology/archaeology with a concentration in human osteology. Also, turians have much flatter profiles

Congratulations on the recent showcase of your "Futurama" sculptures on the blog io9!
I know that their article states that your renditions as being grotesque and disturbing, but I must say that realistic Zoidberg is still as adorable as his animated counterpart, even with those bitty eyes of his.

I really don't understand the anti-fans / haters viewpoint on Zoidberg; I know he's the very embodiment of awkwardness, and gross biological gags, but he's ultimately a sweet character who, for a constant loser, garners some humorous sympathy, and has quite a bit of overlooked victories throughout the series.
Including a major battle against the mob-bot Clamps, saving the Earth from his own people (despite starting the invasion as a temporary lesson in appreciating freedom), his friendship the Professor, and even minor ones like his mastery of the musical Theremin.
Zoidberg has been obnoxious in the past ("Bender's Game"), but never to an extreme level of semi-evil, like most cartoon characters these days...oh, and Bender (I love him too, but seriously). Maybe it's the purposeful pathetic nature of the character that shuns most from what he's actually like, but again, really can't see the argument against Zoidberg from his critics.
Your thoughts on Zoidberg, for better or ill?

If you haven't made a base yet, how about something like a starfish, but with octopus-type tentacles instead of starfish rays and maybe have seven or nine of them.

I like it, except the eyes could have been a bit more crustacean-like. Not talking stalks or anything, but I could see them being just a might beadier and glassier.
