Cartoon Network characters? Really? Smash isn’t the only fighting game series out there!

Look at so much tweets involve raging at Sakuari all because he announced an eighth Fire Emblem representative.

Yeah. These people keep demanding Sakuari to include him and Sora from Kingdom Hearts.
Plus Sora is owned by Disney, not Nintendo.

The thing is Banjo and Kazooie are owned by Microsoft and they got in due to an agreement.

I think you should probably add another reason. That reason being that most Smash fans bash on other platform fighters like Playstation All-Stars and Cartoon Network Punchtime Explosion for being "Smash ripoffs". I mean, Street Fighter fans are okay with most traditional fighters, so why can't the Smash fans realize that Nintendo does NOT own the platform fighting genre?

Sakurai has finally confirmed that Goku won't join Smash Ultimate, you know why?
IT'LL ONLY HAVE CONTENT FROM VIDEO GAMES! And Goku isn't one of them.

You know whats funny? Referencing your Geno argument, people said the same thing about king k rool, that he was "too irrelevant".
And guess what? He got in. Just because a character hasn't seen the spotlight in years, that dosen't mean they can't be a viable
candidate. If Banjo & Kazooie can get in, then the possibilities are almost endless (within reason of course).
I'm sorry if i sound a bit angry, i just hate it when someone discounts a possible fighter just because their "too irrelevant". Considering
that didn't stop K Rool from getting in, its kind of a stupid argument, all things considered.
Also, you should probably have placed a disclaimer in your description somewhere that states that not every member of the smash bros
community is like that. Really, the most toxic smash fans that i see happen to come from the smash bros melee part of the fan base, more
so than any other part.

ArthurEngine In reply to magshi [2019-09-14 02:59:37 +0000 UTC]
Oh. Right. My main reason for Geno being unlikely is because of how many Mario characters we already have.
Man, those are some toxic fans from Melee.

magshi In reply to ArthurEngine [2019-09-14 03:13:16 +0000 UTC]
Oh, okay, that argument makes more sense. I just did a count my self and there are apparently more
Mario characters than Fire Emblem characters (who i thought had the highest amount), There are Nine
mario characters (not counting Yoshi, as he is in his own character group) to Fire Emblems Seven.
Yeah. As an example of how bad the melee fans can get. A little while back, before ultimate, there was this
one Smash 4/Melee tournament. When the winner of the Smash 4 tournament was announced, the melee
fans that were there booed the poor guy in an attempt to get him off stage, just so that they could get to
the melee tourney faster. That is disgusting, disgraceful, and disrespectful. Those melee fans practically
ruined that poor guys moment of glory, all for the sake of getting to their precious games tourney faster.

And there are 10 Pokémon in the game as well.
Man. Talk about an awful side of the fandom!

I see. Plus, Decidueye already has a spot as a playable character in a fighting game, that being Pokken Tournament DX.
Yeah. I, and many other smash bros fans i'm sure, try to distance myself from that part of the fandom. Aside from the melee
fans, i have also noticed a little toxicity in the more competitive part of the smash community, but thats a more natural kind
of toxicity, the kind that emerges in any competitive environment really. None the less, i tend to stay away from the competitive
side of smash and play casually because of it.

So, on a semi-related note, what are your thoughts on the dlc characters so far? (Joker, Dragonquest Hero, and Banjo) And what are your thoughts
on the upcoming dlc fighter that was announced? (Terry Bogard)

Joker and Hero; I'm not sure what to make of the former. The latter, that's the closest we'll get to having a DragonBall character in Smash.
Banjo-Kazooie; Most exciting this that's happened this year. The impossible has happened.
Terry: He makes sense for a fighting game like this.

magshi In reply to ArthurEngine [2019-09-14 08:23:06 +0000 UTC]
I see, as for my opinions on the matter, well..
Joker and Hero: I have a moderate interest in these two, they make for somewhat interesting picks,
and their move sets are definitely unique. Aside from that, these two are really nothing more than
interesting choices to me as i never really played the games they came from, i mean i know a bit about
persona 5, but thats about it.
Banjo-Kazooie: Essentially my childhood reborn. Banjo-Kazooie was the first N64 game i ever got to play
back when i had an N64. So as you can imagine, Banjo and Kazooie are characters i hold close to my heart.
So to see them finally return home, and through smash ultimate no less, brings me such great joy.
Terry: I guess he would make sense. Though from what i know, his origin game is a traditional tournament fighter,
like street-fighter. So it will be interesting seeing how they'll translate his moves into smash ultimate. Who knows,
maybe they'll do something similar to what they did with Ryu/Ken and their OG input gimmick.
So, who are you hoping to see for the final slot of the fighters pass? and who would you like to see for the future
dlc fighters they announced would happen after?

ArthurEngine In reply to magshi [2019-09-14 09:21:08 +0000 UTC]
The very reason I was excited to see the bear and bird return. I didn't get into Banjo-Kazooie because of my childhood friends owning their own copies of the game, but because of my personal favourite game, Diddy Kong Racing (the game Banjo debuted in). As Grant Kirkhope said, Banjo, Kazooie, we're home. And those reaction videos to Banjo-Kazooie were a joy to watch.
Let's see how Terry plays out once he's available.
I'm not sure who to expect as the 5th member of Fighters Pass. But as for the rest of the characters who are yet to get into the game, I'm hoping one of them is Dixie Kong to make the Donkey Kong representatives more complete. Even if I am worried about certain Woah! meme fans and about Sakurai possibly regretting it, I am kind of expecting Crash Bandicoot to make the cut. That orange marsupial or Spyro. I am hoping for Shantae to get in. She makes sense for an all star game. I know I did say this probably wouldn't work until I saw the following www.youtube.com/watch?v=2p7_s9…, but Yooka-Laylee.

magshi In reply to ArthurEngine [2019-09-14 09:59:33 +0000 UTC]
Ah, that makes sense. I suppose we both have our own connections to
him. Yeah, i've heard a lot about diddy kong racing, and i am aware that
banjo technically appeared there first (though his own title was in development
before diddy kong racing became a thing. See "project dream" for more info on that"
Either way he had an influence on both of our childhoods.
Yeah.
All interesting choices. As a Spyro fan myself (specifically a Classic and LoS Spyro fan) i would LOVE
to see him in smash. Crash would be a nice addition too. But Nintendo would probably have to get
Acitivision to agree with it first, since Activision technically owns the characters. That being said,
the fact that both N Sane and Re-Ignited trilogies have been brought to the switch puts their appearance
in smash in the realm of possibility. Also Yooka-Laylee is an interesting choice, provided Playtonic games
didn't sign any sort of exclusivity contract with sony for fighting game appearances. As for other characters
i'd like to see in smash. First and foremost, The Doom Slayer (Aka Doomguy from Doom 2016/Eternal), its
possible for him to get in as Nintendo has already done work with Bethesda, and as a fan of the doom games
(a more recent fan, i got into doom in the years following highschool, but none the less a fan) i would love to
see him get in. To be honest, i can't really think of anyone else i'd want to see in smash that isn't either already
in the game or among the suggestions you made.

I have seen vids of Project Dream. An interesting concept that was. Kind of like how Conker's 12 Tales was going to be a thing before it was maturified to Conker's Bad Fur Day due to criticism for being too cute and similar to other Rare games at the time.
Doomslayer is likely to be the 5th DLC in the Fighters Pass.

magshi In reply to ArthurEngine [2019-09-14 11:34:38 +0000 UTC]
Indeed. Project Dream might actually have been forgotten all together if it wasn't for a few neat
easter eggs in BK and BT involving the character of captain blackeye.
You know, if i may be honest, i'm hoping that banjo and kazooies return to nintendo via smash will
mean that we will at least get a port of the origional games for the switch, or maybe even a proper
threequel.
Oh, i hope so...

ArthurEngine In reply to magshi [2019-09-14 11:43:26 +0000 UTC]
Captain Blackeye even spouted out references in regards to that.
Here's hoping for a port or remake of Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie, especially considering Microsoft's friendship with Nintendo in recent years.
And possibly a proper sequel to Diddy Kong Racing. How I've longed that monkey would get his racing series back, especially due to his full return in Mario Tennis Aces and Super Mario Party.
And in regards to Banjo-Kazooie in Smash, they, Bottles, Mumbo, the Jinjos, and Gruntilda look much better than they did in Nuts and Bolts. And we even got to see the return of Banjo's sister Tooty. And Spiral Mountain restored to its former glory.

magshi In reply to ArthurEngine [2019-09-14 21:33:55 +0000 UTC]
Indeed he did.
Here's hoping so...
Ooh, i'm not so sure about that. Given that the kart racing scene is currently being dominated by the Mario Kart
franchise, but then again, Crash Team Racing, an old kart racer from the days of the PS1, recently re-surfaced
in the form of a remake, so you never know.
Indeed. Speaking of Tooty, i can't help but wonder what became of her after the events of Banjo Kazooie. She
just kind of dissapeared after the first game and wasn't seen or even mentioned in Tooie...

ArthurEngine In reply to magshi [2019-09-14 22:20:04 +0000 UTC]
Or maybe they should make a Mario Kart with an adventure mode.
The only mention Tooty got in Banjo-Tooie was a wrong answer in Gruntilda's Hag 1 quiz, and on a milk carton saying she's missing. They never stated what happened to her afterward. It feels like I'm missing something.
