Myst fanart! A bit scrappy perhaps, but it's going into my gallery because, seriously, most people never look at scraps.As usual, the character portrayed here is the character that I always envision myself as when I play a Myst game. I call him Cyan
This is just a little commentary on how Catherine in 'Exile' looked and sounded nothing like the first (and best) Catherine, from 'Riven.' Who knew it would only get worse in 'Revelation'!

I know it! It wasn't too bad in Exile (other than they got kind of cheap with the loop animations), but in Revelation I'm like "Dude, since when has Catherine had a cheap, annoying accent?" I probably missed some important plot parts of Revelation just because I quit clicking on amulet things in Tomahna just because of her. At least they didn't put her on screen.
How is it that Atrus and Catherine where both so much cooler in the books (except for Riven Catherine. She could be the same one as from the books)?

Though I played the first part of Exile before I came to the end of Riven I agree that Riven Cath is the best one. I also picture her when I read the Myst novels.

Yes, definitely! Have you played Revelation yet? You never see her, but there are a couple of voice-overs and she sounds absolutely dreadful!

Yeah I`ve played Revelation, though it`s a while ago...so I don`t recall what she sounds like in Revelation but I take your word on it.

Oh god, Catherine in Revelation. *hides under desk* When I replay Rev, I think I'm just going to avoid all the amulet flashbacks that have Catherine in it because I was just cringing so much. Exile I could tolerate, but Rev...*shudders*

I seriously love this and I love the baby's face, I've played the first two games and want to get the others, only problem is I've not read any of the books yet, something else I'm going to have to get XD

Heh, I remember feeling that way about Exile. I wouldn't have minded her being different, since she gets so little screen time...but she was noticeably *bad* as well.
I did like the loop tape of baby bouncing that plays between conversations, though.

Yes. It was slightly dizzying after a while. Have you played Revelation? You don't even see her in that one, but you hear her, and just with that she's the WORST Catherine to date! Terrible! Why couldn't they just stick to classy Riven Catherine? At least for the type of voice!

And Catherine in the fourth game is the worst I've seen (or rather, heard, as you don't see Catherine anywhere as far as I know)!

The reason he always looks the same is because he's my default character. He's got my default hair, may default face, my default clothes, etc. It's the only way I know of drawing a person to look the same in every picture!

Yea, but I wasn't sure what was going on because I can't find book 1 and started on book 3 (The first one I purchased,) then I found out there was only 3 out at the time??? so I stopped.
gahhh I want to find book 1 soo bad but they are HARD to find! I have to download an ebook of it maybe. The books were just...beautiful ~!

*sigh* they were beautiful, weren't they? My favorite is probably The Book of Ti'ana. It was the first one I read and I still insist that chronological order is the best way to read them! I mean, I had ZERO IDEA Gehn would turn out evil, or that D'Ni was going to fall... anyways. It's VEEERY close to being a tie with Book of Atrus though. Didn't care too too much for Book of D'Ni.
