Description Here we have them! Six of the Characters that make the Myst universe what it is! This is my half of an Art-Trade with and I really hope She likes it!

I know you asked for some pictures of Gehn, Anna and young Atrus, but then I realized I couldn't draw old people for the life of me! So I drew Anna as a young woman - Ti'ana - and then of course I had to draw Her with Aitrus And then I couldn't draw Gehn as an old person either, so I opted to draw Him as His 19-year-old self. Atrus is His 14-year-old self, as requested. Then, I couldn't resist throwing in a Veovice too! He seems a trifle on the evil side in this picture, which will probably aid in figuring out which part of his life this drawing is from. Then, there was an empty space just big enough for one more portrait, so in goes Catherine (better known as Katran at this time)! Their names are provided in D'ni (the language of the people in the story). Atrus and Gehn's ages are also there in D'ni numbers under their names. I realize there's a big empty space in the lower right, but there are already three extra Characters here and I didn't want to go TOO far from the origional request Also, I know it looks kind of wierd that only Aitrus and Ti'Ana are in a frame, but that was simply due to bad planning on my part. Origionally I was going to put them all in frames, but for various reasons it didn't work out that way.

Anyways, hope you like it ! It was a blast doing this. Anytime you're interested in doing another Trade or Collab (or even Commission), I'm all ears!

So, is it pronounced 'Tai-ahnah' (to use the Old Transliteration Method), or 'Tee-ahnah'? I've never seen her name written in D'ni before

Good job on Veovis! I always imagine him like that, especially now that you've drawn him like that. I love it!

I pronounce it "Tai-anna" too! I was taught that if there's an apostrophe in a name like that, and it's after a vowel, then the vowel is long. Buuuut, I don't know if anyone else does this. I have a feeling that when the movie comes out I'm going to have to retrain myself.

There are no words, this is absolutely amazing. I love seeing the characters I've read about drawn.

I really should learn to read D'ni sometime...

I've been wanting to draw Veovis again lately. Myst has such awesomely amazing villains!

It DOES! It definitely has some of the best villains in all fictionland. They're so dynamic and interesting and multilayered, it's brilliant. It's due to Myst that I almost changed my major from music to criminal psychology, because after I got Revelation I spent a good part of my summer taking Sirrus and picking his brains apart and analyzing him to death, and he made me realize that I've been doing this to bad guys for a long time, and then all the rest of the wonderful Myst villains just added to my dilemma. Gah! Why do they have to be so awesome?

I don't know, but I'm happy!

Hey, would you like to do some sort of Myst-related art-trade?

Well, I can't draw to save my life (music major, you know...sat around trying to harmonically analyze the spider chair and figure out what pitch each notch is, but can't draw at all...) but I could try and like, compose something, perhaps...

Sure, why not? And what would you like?

Hmm...Sirrus on Spire has always been a favorite of mine. All that lovely psychology and such What event would you like me to compose?

Sirrus on Spire? I'll see what I can do! Actually I've been looking around YouTube for the cinematics, including Sirrus on Spire, but haven't been able to find any! What gives?

As for you, how about...hmm...What about Gehn as a child? He didn't have an easy time of things, poor kid.

I don't think the cinematics are anywhere on youtube...I've been searching for them too simply because the psychology of Sirrus on Spire is one of my favorite things from the series, but there's nothing! And youtube usually has everything...

That sounds good...definitely challenging, but will be interesting for sure

I know, pretty much all we get is a short little clip of him shivering in one of the tribute videos (I think it's the one that's set to the song 'curtains'.

Wow, cool. Everyone's here

I think it'd be cool if Keta (Atrus's mother) was there too though. And that number under Gehn (I guess it's supposed to be 19?) isn't a number. Sorry. But great nonetheless

You could be right about that number, I didn't have a reference. It's a base-five system, isn't it? Repeating after five but with the ten and five lines in tact? I don't know. My D'ni is deplorably rusty.

Keta. There's an idea.

As you seem to enjoy Myst art, it may interest you to know that I will be doing a picture of young Catherine and Atrus as my half of an art-trade soon. Stay tuned!

Indeed, it's kind of a five number based system. But actually it's a twenty-five number based system "5 times 5" and only two numbers can be in one number at once. You've got three there. Your number says "10-5-4", which could have been right.

If you check out this image you'll see that the right number would be 15 and 4 merged.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound like a know-it-all or anything

RIGHT! No ten lines. Fives only. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

Nosferatu-Iddi In reply to Artoveli [2006-10-01 09:27:00 +0000 UTC]

No, that's not my point. If you look at the picture you'll see that 0 to 5 have different digits. Then 10, 15, 20 and 25 have their own digits, and after that, you add a numer. You see? So to make 12, you'll simply overlap 10 and 2. To make, say, 8, you overlap 5 and 3. It's pretty simple. But after 25, you add a digit since they only have 25 numbers in their system, so 27 will be 25 and then 2 after it. See?

I think that's what I meant, in that the lines change at the fives, not the tens. And I forgot about the after 25 thing.
