But it did make a good tutorial, and I learned a few things too.

Wow this is..incredible! LIke you mentioned, is it a male, female, bird, faerie or angel? I cannot tell and it's bizzare and wonderful how you combined all those creatures ogether to ceate something like this...beautiful and timid pose, very reflective and thought provoking and I also really like the beak as the beginning of a cascade of hair that eventually flows out to a really bright color. Seriously, you are amazing, I cannot get over how beautiful and graceful those hands are and how you color so beautifully.

Such warmth and softness. It really has a sense of innocence about it... although that might have something to do with the semi-fetal position. I would have guessed that it's a female, though. I agree that men are harder to draw... or maybe women are just more fun to draw. They have more flow to their form. It's absolutely stunning, though, whatever it is.

This is beautiful! I love how you illuminated the wings and the hair/fur along the head and feathers.
Regarding the distinguishing characteristics between men and women, it's all in subtle differences in bone structure. For instance, men have a noticeable indentation in their foreheads, halfway between their browbones and their hairlines. Female noses are less angular than male noses.
I enjoy the sexlessness of children such as this one. Androgyny has never been overly neglected in art, especially when depicting young humans, but it's still pleasing to see.
