I thought I wouldn't be on time for this.

I drew this page for a contest held by KayFedewa , called "The Lost BBA page".

You have probably heard of the BlackBlood Alliance (BBA), it was one of the most popular comics on Deviantart. It was discontinued back in 2010, but recently Kay, the author, announced that she is currently working on redesigning the characters for a future reboot. I can hardly wait! BBA is what made me join Deviantart back in 2008, and to know that it's coming back is like a dream come true!

So, while waiting, I thought why not join the contest^^ The theme is to draw a comic page depicting a scene of our invention, which had at least one BBA wolf as protagonist.

Me, I chose a scene where Scythe, Claymore and their mother Rapier appear.

'cause Scythe needs some love, but Clay more!

In the page, Blade, another son of Rapier's, tells his siblings Scythe and Claymore to report the situation of the Blackbloods "back to mother".

Now, we know that Rapier is their mother because it's specified in many descriptions and character sheets, but if you only read the comic pages, the identity of this "mother" remains a mystery. I've always imagined that the scene where "mother"'s identity is revealed would be of big impact, and it would probably be followed by a ton of *GASSSSSSSP*s.

So here's why I decided to represent it!

I thought of taking the action right from where it was left: in my page, Scythe and Clay have run for some hours, and the sky is turning brighter with dawn. For the characters' looks, I tried to follow both Kay and FablePaint character models, but I couldn't find many references for Scythe or Clay, so I kind of represented them in a mix of my style and the BBA's. I've always imagined Clay as the shy, submissive runt of the litter, whereas Scythe has a stronger character represented by her sharp lines. Same for the colour palettes, I'm sure they have changed, but the old ones were the only ones I had Sorry for that

Anyway, I really hope you enjoy this! I sure had great fun drawing this page
