Description
So this is for *GingerC as a thank you for the sub she got me. This is her dog, Max. Done in mechanical pencil.There are a few things off with this, but overall I am very happy with it. I love German shepherds, I think they're such noble and beautiful dogs. And this was a joy to draw!

I wouldn't now... they just don't seem like the original breed these days & have been known to turn quite nasty here

I've never actually heard of that. Maybe the U.S. breed is more stable?

Like most pedigrees over here.. inbred to much. We always had dogs (cat's,mice,rabbits etc) through our childhood & many were pedigrees but it was always the 'Heinz 57's' that did best. They are used in our forces here to but i think that's changing for some. My fathers 1st was an ex-forces dog (being ex-forces) We had one that was crossed with a husky & he was so good.

Crossed breeds sure can be great. Lots of inbreeding was done here, but good breeders are trying to eliminate a lot of those bad traits. Many have been quelled, so that's good.

Oooo, you captured the smile brilliantly! The only thing off with this to me are the eyes, they don't reflect the light all the way through as they normally would. Besides that, it's perfect.

If I were to get a German shepherd, it wouldn't be till I had lots of property! I still dream of owning a huge chunk of land someday. But small dogs have grown on me, so if I live in confined spaces, I'll probably stick with them. I have no time to walk a dog! Mine just get sent out to run around, then they chase each other when they have too much energy.

I am so happy you like it! The photo wasn't too bad for everything except the neck. But I guess he had no black markings around there.
He is definitely a beautiful boy and I had a lot of fun doing this piece.

His black was on the back of his neck, hehehe, so you wouldn't see it in that photo.
You did a superb job! I am just so in love with it. He took a very large part of my heart with him when he died and I still miss him terribly even after 5 years.
In fact I have TRIED to draw him myself and just can't.

Well, a couple of years ago, there's no way I could have drawn this either. I started a drawing of one of my dogs awhile ago, but couldn't get it right. Sometimes I think you're just too close to it, and it has to be too perfect that you set yourself to fail. I've definitely done that!
I know I will feel a lot of this when my girl Cora leaves me. Sometimes you get a pet in your life that you have an extra-special bond with, something beyond what you have with your other pets. It sounds like you and Max had that. At least he will be there in heaven to meet you when it's time for you to go.

Indeed... Max was my heart dog. I love all my dogs (all 9of them, lol) but none have that same bond that Max and I did.

That's not good at all. Life has been pretty stressful for me too. Not to a point where I'm not feeling well, but my social life is shot that's for sure.

Eh. I am debating finding another job. Keeping mine with my dad, but something in the evenings a couple days a week. I just won't do fast food and want to avoid retail. You don't know of anything with decent pay do you?
And that stinks for you too! Too bad we can't have nice stretches where life is easy. That only seems to exist when you're a kid.
