Great work! She looks like a cutie. And as everyone said, the shine on the coat is excellent! Only critique I could think would be to snug up the snout in a little tighter toward the eyes...though it might just be the angle. I like how this almost has an abstract-y style mixed with a realistic drawing. Very well done!

Thank you! I should have overlaid the sketch over the photo before I started to color things, but I am still fairly happy with it. I am happy you like it! I want to start doing more dog portraits. It was really quite fun.

Thank you! The shine was quite a challenge and very intimidating to do, but I'm really happy with it!

Lesser black=more "shiny"=better result!
Great pic, you did well with the shading, as mentioned above.

Pet portrait commissions would be a good idea.

I am very happy you think so! I think next I gotta do one of my dogs. Plus, my mom wants an updated "Family Dogs Over the Years" picture. Ours is missing their current dog, plus my two!

Now, to get me time to draw . . . while still having enough money to pay my bills! Oi! That one is tricky.

I haven't seen how much shipping to France is. I can stop into the Post Office tomorrow and ask. I can also check with FedEx, UPS, and DHL. (I think it's DHL . . . ?) I would assume they're more reliable than the U.S. Post Office . . . And you are very welcome! She was a lot of fun to draw!
Out of curiosity, what breed is she? She looks like a mix.

Wow, that looks incredibly realistic! I love the way the fur shines. Drawing dogs with short fur can be quite hard but you did it really well!

Especially coloured pencils, oh yeah. I always have the feeling that coloured pencils work against me. They only like me when I work on very large pictures. Hrm...

I feel that way with digital! And a little bit with oils too, so I can understand! I've been coloring with colored pencils for as long as I can remember, so maybe that's why it's so easy for me. I keep meaning to do bigger pieces, but don't seem to quite make it . . .

I would once love to work on a massive picture but I never come around to it and.. I still don't have a proper workspace. I left my massive desk in germany and now I miss it! Aah!
I used to paint in oil too but stopped a very long time ago. I had a quite long and massive pause with my drawing and it took me so long to make up for it. I'm still struggling and try to improve everything which I could have learned during my break

I know how that goes. It took me a long time to even try and improve. Now I feel like I'm playing catch-up, and kicking myself for not doing this sooner. Ah, well. You like and you learn and you just gotta make the best of your current circumstances. I know what you mean about workspace! My dining area is pretty much my "big" workspace. But then, with it being just me, I don't eat at that table anyway . . .
And painting isn't for everyone. If you don't want to pick it up again, I don't think it will hurt you. You've got such amazing skill anyways! Right now, I don't ever see me going into mostly painting. Colored pencils are just too much fun for me!

I can't quite into digital. I need to do more, but there's just not as much satisfaction in it I don't think. Someone else was telling me he won't get into it because he loves to have a finished product that can be held and touched and handled. Plus, there's no original to sell . . .
And sounds like you're having as much fun with workspace as I am! I had to shrink my workspace when I moved, plus I didn't have a nice fireplace to stick drying oil paintings on top of . . .

I see what you mean. It always feels weird to do a digital picture because I somehow think... it's a piece of artwork and one needs talent or knowledge for doing a good one but.. it is digital. You can't grab it, you can't hold it towards the light or feel the texture. Only a print makes it more visible and "real".
