And I seriously have no idea why anyone would want to hurt themselves over something that is already hurting them. Not to offend anyone, of course. But yeah stuff like that creeps me out and it must stop.

haha...well, as a former cutter, I can give you a little insight. there's several reasons, the main reason is that when your emotional pain becomes unbearable, physical pain dulls it and gives you some relief, even a little happiness. the problem with this is that, like a drug, your body becomes dependent on pain to achieve joy. this is where one starts to get addicted to self harm. it's very easy to become addicted to and very difficult to stop. but you can stop.
I actually started cutting years before my depression, because that's how I tested my blades XD. if it sliced my skin without any pressure applied, it was sharp enough. I guess I just started to like the calm after the cut. after I got depressed I /needed/ that calm, and cut more often.
since that, though, I have gotten a handle on my depression, as well as the cutting. ^^~
