Love the expression. The hair and eyes look amazing.
My only suggestion is try to gradually blend the shadows (especially on the cheeks to match how it looks on her forehead).
Otherwise awesome job .

Right off the bat, this is a very well done piece. It's simple and yet so well executed. I completely envy you on how well you got the model's hair texture (I'm still figuring that out for both traditional and digital works myself). I also love the clever colors of your light sources, it definitely adds to the ambiguity (and androgyny, perhaps?) of the model. Your shading and depth of the model's face and collar bone is very on point, especially for the nose.Β

Although this practice work is almost flawless, I suppose the only issues with the piece is the lips, the ears and the lighting, of course. Firstly, the lips should have more detail in terms of texture and lighting, as typical as it is for portraits. Secondly, although this is more of my personal preference (as people do have different ear shapes and sizes), the ears are a bit too big and asymmetrical for a front profile and therefore do seem a bit distracting. Plus, there could be more lighting on the right ear similar to how you portrayed the left ear. And lastly, you could have played with the light source a little bit more (similar to the nose and eyelids), it would make the model's features look not as dark and dull.

Allinall, you did very well for a practice run. Just keep at it and you will only improve with time.

Hello!
Im glad you noticed the hair haha for a practice piece this took a total of 2 hours and an hour alone was spent on the hair. the hair was short at first, and then curly, and i got so frustrated that i just straightened it, it was actually supposed to be blonde to reflect more light but it just made it look like i was drawing suicide squad harley quinn hair so i just turned her brunette haha
I totally agree with everything else, especially the ears. i mean i think i drew them too high as well but eh it was a practice on color and lighting so anatomy was completely disregarded lol
Thanks for the feedback

This is very good, but it's kind of hard to focus on the hair or other features with the heavy shading.

Hello!
thanks for the feedback! i think i get what you mean, the heavy shading does distract and take some parts away from the piece. Thank you so much!

First of all, what attracted me to this picture the most is the unique lighting. I can see that you tried to give the highlights two different tints, a pink tint and a blue tint. With two colors apparent, it feels like there are two sources of light in this portrait. I believe the light is coming from behind the head given the heavy amounts of shading around the facial features.

Also, I do like how you went with texture. The skin texture could be better, as in skin has smoother texture than the one you went with. Though, you could perhaps be trying to emulate strokes of a paintbrush with this texture, which is alright in that case as traditional textures do make digital drawings seem more natural. The texture on the hair, though, is perfect and actually uses lighting to show that it is separate hair strands and not just a blob or a shape on the head.

If there is anything I could have done to this picture to make it better, it would be trying the gradient effect with the background as well. You have two colors on the figure, but only one color in the background. I can understand how you want the figure to be the emphasis of the picture, but the amount of color in the figure makes the background bland in comparison. It's always nice to play around with colors to see what fits you best in color theory.

Overall, the figure in this picture is very well drawn with attention to detail and a little experimentation with lighting and color, which certainly makes this portrait stand out among others.

You are absolutely right about there being two light sources and they are coming from behind (one on each side). i had to look at so many referneces just to see how that works ahaha.
It's true that skin is smoother, but i tried to render it as such, and it made it look weirder so i just stuck with this one. I guess i have to work on my technique in digital.
Actually, if you notice, the bckground is kinda already a gradient. note how its a bit blue on the side where the pink light rests on her face, and a bit pink on the other side. i did that so it balances each other out and it would appear as one shade when you dont pay attention to it. but i get what you man by it looking bland in comparison. I do tendΒ  to not make any effort whatsoever with backgrounds, but that may be why the piece looks very simple so thank you for pointing it out!
Thanks for the feedback! its much appreciated

Realistic. This is one of the most realistic drawings I've seen apart from professionals. 10/10

Two effects grabbed me. The first was her expression, which seemed to be gloomy and made me wonder what exactly was "ambiguous" here; and the second was your choice of colors for shadow. What made you choose violet?

Hi! its actually kinda funny, i called it ambiguous because my art friends thought it was a guy until i painted in the hair. so i was just referring to the fact that the gender is ambiguous. and i needed the violet cuz i wanted to avoid warmer colors and violet binds in the blue and pink lights quite well.
