Classification: Theropoda, Tetanurae, Deinonychosauria, Dromaeosauridae

Time: Campanian to Maastrichtian stages of the Late Cretaceous

Pyroraptor's name is derived from the fact that its remains were found in an area where the rocks had been cleared of vegetation after a forest fire. The specimen consits of the limb bones, a few vertebrae and some teeth. The material is more clearly dromaeosaurid than the remains of the contemporary Variraptor, and this is also one of the few members of the group to be found in Europe.
