Hiya there folks!
I’ve been working a lot lately, cos as some of you know, end of year is when we do the formularies for the taxpayer so they can pay their taxes, so this is a very busy month, and last month was very busy too…this year is hard because most of people doesn’t have money, and neither we in the word. Also I had some trouble in my house that made me feel many sad feelings that I couldn’t rid of, and the irony is I even couldn’t write any memoirs, that’s what makes me feel better sometimes and I couldn’t write memoirs! So, in the last weeks of November, and in this month I felt blue, and I felt like everyone that I considered my friends were gone away…from here…cos in my “home” well, they already did it since a pretty good time!...And to make things go more sad, some days later…adding the trouble I already had, I felt a lot of pain in my already wounded heart! due something that happened…I felt like I was the girl with the worst luck in the world!!! doomed to be alone forever!!! …Maybe I’m the person with the worst luck…and it’s not true that popular saying, since I don’t have luck in games either! (I used to have luck in games when I was a kid, but now I don’t) or maybe not! because I don’t believe in luck…I don’t believe in coincidences, I believe all things happen for a reason!...And although I’m not sure what is the reason of what happened to me…I still believe it’s for a good reason that God wanted it to happen! And I will give it to God! Because He knows best! …Yeah I know…It’s something imprudent to talk about that here, specially if it’s supposed I want to forget it…but in the other hand, I think talking about that…Also thanks to my really dear friend and new Mentor, I could feel better! So I feel much better now, and I’m here to post something since know I have a commitment here. I know there are people here who actually appreciate my art! And of course, who appreciate me too!! So here is a painting of pastels of…guess who? ...
Yeah….Megamind!!! The character of the incoming movie with that name…well…incoming here, because I’ve heard in USA it was on the theaters since November righ? Here in Mexico, it still doesn’t arrive. But I made this drawing because in some of the past weeks because since this new dA very often log me out when I close the window (before I used to left my account open even if I wasn’t here) many of the times I logged in to come here in the past days I saw some drawings of him in the newest deviations, and they were so cool that I just had to draw the character!
The funny thing is, when I made this drawing I even didn’t knew he was a character of a movie! I just saw some of the drawings of him made by the deviants here, and some of them just said “I love him” and stuff, but didn’t said nothing about him being from a movie So I just thought the character had to be from a movie or show, and I loved it! Even if I didn’t knew about him, I thought it was a very interesting and cool character by the way people described him in their fanart! I specially liked people said he was very properly, and that reminded to Faikel a little, and for the color too! He’s blue! one of my fave colors! and the name “megamind” instantly called my attention, since I have a soft spot for intelligent characters!
Well, the case is I had seen some drawings and the character was in my mind, so I felt greatly inspired thanks to the people who drew him, and I got that ardent craving to do a drawing of him!! And I was thinking “should I draw him first or look for info about the character?” I usually look for info and draw after that, but I was so excited that I decided to do this portrait of him first! And here is it! I made this with pastels, and since I made this at night and the computer was off, I don’t had any reference to draw this, this portrait just came out of my mind form imagination, because I had the drawings I had seen in my mind at that time! I consider I have a very good “photographic memory” as some scientists say (it’s the part of the memory that stores the images) but just by, if some detail of him is missing here it’s because of that It took me like 1 hour or a bit more to make this one, of course because when you work with pastels colors you have to be very careful when you paint to not mix the colors too much and stain the picture, or your hands and arms! That’s in part why I usually don’t work with pastels because they stain your hands a lot and, you end with the hands full of the colors Also they are very thick, so it’s difficult to paint with them but I think I’ve improved a bit since the last time I used them in 2009, because this drawing was easier to do than the other one (maybe because it was just 3 colors) and it was very fun to do it! A curious data; when I work with these colors I blur them with the finger because I love the effect And I use just one hand to paint (in order to not smudge my hands so much) and I appoint each of the fingers the color they will blur, to not spoil the drawing with the wrong color. And although I never had to do that (because I have no much colors) if you’re painting with pastels and they’re much colors, not just five, I think you can use the finger of the colors that is much alike; like, all the reds and all the blues etc. It’s just a little advice because I know some people who draw with pastels have much trouble with that, so hope it can help! I'm not sure why this expression, it's just something that popped on my mind, since I don't know the character yet...but I DO love a lot his green eyes and his blue tone of skin, also the desing of him, and the clothes are cool!
“And what about the movie?” you may wonder, well, I didn’t wanted to know much about the movie, because I’d like to really enjoy it when I can see it on the theater, I don’t want that it happens like all the other movies I couldn’t fully enjoy because my siblings always were saying me spoilers of them! Just like they did it recently with toy story 3! Because they told me about the story (specially the end) when they know I hate hearing spoilers! So, after drawing this I only took a peek on Google and read the first lines that said “DreamWorks bets on a movie with a depth story!” and yeah, I read Megamind is a villain that will save the word…I did read it because that was in the first lines, but maybe I shouldn’t read it …I hope what I’ve read doesn’t spoil the movie for me. So, please don’t say anything about the movie, or the character! Or anything! I wanna see it for myself!! …Well maybe you can talk about him, but just warn people about the spoilers.
OH MY! I really excited about this movie!!!! Since in the reviews it says there is a plot with depth! And I LOVE depth and well-thought stories in movies! Also the fact he is a villain at the beginning makes me feel excited cos as I told to a dear friend of mine, I LOVE characters who are villains at the beginning, and later they change their minds when something happens and touches their heart, or something like that, and they became heroes by choice! with free will!!! It's really gratifying and moving when someone who was bad at first realizes which way is right and people give him/her a second chance!
So I have really high expectative of this move! I think it’s the same what happens with people too…I hope not to be disappointed when the movie come out here…but well, DreamWorks doesn’t make the kind of work that disappoints you, but they’re the creators of many amazing, unexpected, and cool ideas!
