Description For some reason, I got to thinking about all the Yoshi's Island bosses that you fight up on the roofs of their castles... and then I sketched this in the margin of my history notebook. It is ironic that Raphael the Raven is most definitely NOT one of those bosses fought on his roof, but I after I drew this castle I just had to draw his moon up there for Yoshi to gaze at... so there it is.

So yeah... there are many parts of this that could be better, but all in all I'm pretty pleased with it.

Thank you very much yet again! The funny thing is... I couldn't even remember if Raphael had a tower. (Now that you mention it, though, I do seem to recall that long wooden elevator ride... such good times...)

Dang, my memory must be just about shot-- I hardly even remember that. XD Something tells me I'm going to have to find time to fire up the old SNES and re-aquaint myself with this classic over the summer... I'm still trying to get 100% in that game, after all!

Yeah, it really was. ^^ Yoshi's Island has to get huge crops for the creativity of its boss fights compared to other Mario side-scrollers. Not to diss on those other ones either, but you know!

Oh wow, that's such a beautiful background. All the colors fit so nicely together.
I think the angle on the tower looks kind of strange, though. If Yoshi was looking up at the moon he'd be pictured from further below, I'd bet. Still a great picture either way.

Hm, you may be right about that... thanks for the critique! The truth is I kind of kobbled this whole thing together out of wierd doodles, so the perspective is really skewed. But even then I wasn't sure what to do to fix it, so that's a lot of help! (I really hate perspective, you see... somehow the whole "vanishing point" stuff they teach in middle school art class never seemed like enough help to me... I'm always more than welcome to advice/suggestions on the topic!)

And thanks, I'm glad you like the background! I was hoping to do something more dramatic, honestly, but bah... it didn't work out.

Haha, real awesome. Raphael is my favorite big boss, not counting Baby Bowser. I always loved Yoshi's Island cutesy drawing-like graphics.

Hm, I guess you're right... Pretty much EVERY Koopa has a hooked bill, after all...

Naval Piranha is also pretty cool. Heck, I can’t really think of any β€œuncool” ones of the top of my head… maybe Burt the Bashful, but even he was kinda fun.

Wow... I like this picture in overall: the purple waves in the dark blue night sky, Yoshi staring at the moon, how you did the bricks... all that gives a unique flavor to the picture - it makes me feel so little and powerless.
