the background is a picture of the moon that took. The figure was one that created and continue to revise in my 3d program. the program use to pose it is poser. for life of me can't figure out daz the free program but then again have years invested into poser so learning a new program seems like learning to walk all over again.
But what am doing others don't do. most will carry their rendered model into photoshop or similar. What I do, is carry the photograph into the 3D program on sphere to give it that 3D quality. Look at the new picture just uploaded. See how the cherry blossoms just stand out giving the picture depth. even some of the cherry blossoms are seen in front of the umbrella. you can't really give depth that much in a graphic program.

most do not, most use Photoshop to add the picture. you can usually tell. One 3D artist told me to do it in 3d would just take to much time. that even the big boys use the computer to add special effects. Which is true, but the have use of equipment that the little person can only dream of

Indeed.
I don't know for photography, but I do know that for movie special effects, like flames, gunfire, environmental effects, magic effects, etc, it now requires only a somewhat powerful computers around 2000$ (Dell does good ones, reliable and performant), with a CPU of 3.6-4.0 Ghz and a good graphics card, usually a gaming card (they are very good in the said Dell computers), and only a software known as VFX softwares, which range (depending on how far and complex you need the special effects to be, and all the related bells and whistles) between 400$ to 2000$.
So, its not for the poor people, but at least, its getting more affordable nowadays; so in the future, about 5-10 years, its gonna be as cheap as buying a photo software.

won't be around that long, unless dr wrong. I have video software but don't know how to use it that well for adding special effects. maybe when finish this comic am doing will take time to learn it. It allows you to insert alpha channels into the video, that would do special effects, but need to learn how to have it follow the path of the action. Like what good does it do to insert a fire for a burning hand if the hand moves but the fire don't.
here is a sample of the special effects done just to add something to my movement of silk and her mount.

and to answer you question on the contest, yes you can draw, that is preferable over using existing clip art, but main point is that you need something to illustrate a scene from that world. Like for me it would be me with wings, playing cards with an elf, a barbarian, a wizard, all females of course. and the winner would be the one who would get to torture the last man on earth and the scene would have a pathetic male in rags, bound in ropes hanging from a bulls horn on the wall. with a target painted on him and darts stuck in the wall where we had been tossing darts at that target. Use your imagination as to where that target would be painted. Oh my just thinking about it causes me to smile.

doubt if anyone dream world is the same as mine, and don't think if put a sample of the above dreamworld on group as a sample, it would not go over good, especially with the men, and probably the women who would think am picking on them, which they would be right.
The dinosaur had to be posed one frame at a time for the foot movements, while the tail, body, and head could be posed every few frames and the computer tween them

which scene, this one or cherry blossoms, this scene took a couple days to make the swing and ropes, and already had the clothing. so maybe a week to get it right since already had the figure
Cherry blossoms is an update to Akitam 11, and it is a major update, that took a little over a week to get the tweeks done, the dress took a day to cut it down from the full size one, then to pose say another day, then to work to get transparancy mask made of the cherry blossoms a few hours, so add that together with a few test renders, so in all maybe close to two weeks, but remember sometimes work all day and night, other times can't work on computer cause of depression or illness. If someone really knew what they were doing, maybe two days to do.
Just remember when do what call a photo shoot, like the swing, do about twenty to forty poses and lighting then choose from them, also change textures of clothing. before putting model on swing, had leaning against tree, her top half open and one side of skirt raised to make it a sexy pose, One had a ghostly figure pushing the swing, but that bothered me, so did away with it. On the cherry trees did a whole lot of renders to test lighting and color of lighting before actually doing the final renders, It takes anywhere from five minutes to an hour per render, depending on the geometry used. If use fiber based hair, which looks realistic, it takes long time, cause computer is an 8 core processor but was one of the first and is not as dedicated as the newer 8 core processors. I have 32 gigs of ram, but the system seems to only want to use 16 gigs at most. and the graphic card is 670 nvidia T so it is as fast as can afford. Still it takes a lot of power to do some of the renders.

your's is supperior to mine for now, next upgrade am going to try to go with duel processors, cause need as much multitasking as can get,but the I7 which when built this machine was to far out of reach, it is now possibly doable. even though amd is better at mutitasking, 3D is not really multitasking. I need the speed that intel has.
Did you build yours or buy it already built.
Every year upgrade something, usually after about three years will burn out the mb cause am always pushing it, that is why it crashes so much cause try to do to much at one time. Like right now, am rendering some of my prison scenes on poser 2014 game dev. while on 2014 non game, am building the next scene, trying to get the tears and textures in the right place and to look right, and am also running Corel Graphic suite so can drop a texture into it to improve it, adobie pdf writer, for the script, faceshop pro 8, nine sucks, running pdi, which is a 3D texture and obj locater so can search system for stuff that made that forgot to put in right place, and am running uvmapper pro 3.1 not the new one. all of these are open at the same time. If you looked at the performance chart to see what you are using, my cores are maxed out. My main hard drive has a hard fault about every fifteen minutes because it doesn't turn fast enough. Have a new drive, but so far have not been able to clone this drive to it, that would speed up my machine.
To be honest when you get to many drives, it starts taking to long to find stuff when can't remember where you saved it to. Up until the last chemo and then having heart stop a little to long last year, my memory is trying to kiss me good by.
Just think the year before that had a tumor removed which all of a sudden flooded all these lost memories back into head, now seem to have to fight to remember stuff.
How old are you Clara, if you don't mind me asking

Sorry for the late reply. Got stuck in exhausting farming duties. Then my dad wonders why nothing happen in terms of musical advancement or website building.
No, I bought it already made. I found it at Dell, under the gaming Alienware X51 desktop series (the tower ones, not the laptops or all-in-one). I just can't find my model online anymore, since I bought it in Canada, and now they only give me the American site. With all those specs mentioned, a 2 TB hardrive (though most external hardrives are really cheap nowadays, less than 200$ for 4-5 TB), one Asus monitor (they make very good monitors for really cheap; got mine, a 24 inch and 2 ms response time, for about 250$), a sound system (since the monitor didn't come with speakers), a keyboard/mouse set (Logitech have really good ones for cheap prices), and a 20$ multi-SD card reader and a 20$ DVD drive (it doesn't come with a SD card reader, only with 4 USB 2.0 and 6 USB 3.0 and the other connections such as HDMI, Ethernet, etc; and I prefer an external DVD drive than the internal ones) all came to less than 3000$; the computer itself was 1800$ (though got it with a rebate, and Dell always do rebates each month).
It's a little priced, but all the other companies did really poor computers for the same prices, and even higher. The closest to Dell specs was the Apple 27 inch Macbook, I think it's called, the all-in-one, and that costed near 3200$... for just the computer alone. Now you have to add the speakers, DVD drive, SD card reader, multi-USB drive, etc (because Apple took away all that to make its computers as slim as possible; and because it wants you be all Internet-based, including the movies and music... and file storage).
Beside, I also chose Dell, as not only it seems the most powerful for cheaper, you also always see the guys of 3D modelling on Dell computers.
And for now, I've tested it the much I could without an actual 3D program, but it performs really well. What I don't understand is that the Maximum Frequency meter, in the Performance monitor, is always at 109%; but inversely, the CPU usage is at 1-2%. Anyway, what I did to test it was to make a 25 minute-long file composed of 10 seconds clips. To each of those 10 seconds clips, I did the worst thing a video maker can do: add a transition, from simple ones to messed-up ones, at each and every 10 second transitions, and this, for 25 minutes. Then, an even worst thing, for every 10 second clips, I placed an effect, from simple ones to messed-up ones. And finally, I exported it as a 1920x1080 file, with a 25 million bit rate. At the end, the 25 minute clip was 3.5 GB big. Surprisingly, it took 40 minutes to export, and though the CPU hit many times the 100% usage, the I7 and the 3.9 GHz spec kept it running smoothly, and it always then came back to a general 30-70% usage, depending on the effect rendered. The lowest my GHz got was 3.73 on the 3.9. And once the file was done: bam, went back to 2% usage, 3.9 Ghz, and no side-effect.
Now, of course, it's not a 3D render, nor a multi-tasking, but I have high hopes for this cheap little guy. And I mean it, little guy! The tower is incredibly small and lightweight! 4 inch wide, 14 inch high and 12 inch deep!
I sound like a sale representative, don't I? Sorry.... I'm just so happy to finally stop having a computer that crashes just by watching a movie. If I'm happy at that, I can't imagine how happy you'll be if you get a new computer.
My God, you've got all that running at the same time?! Poor computer...
Have you also considered the RAID external drives? They are between 200$-600$, depending on number of TB you need, and not only do they serve as storage, they also give little boost to your computer. I don't know exactly how much more boost it actually gives, since I haven't gotten the need to do buy one, but apparently it works well. Of course, it won't solve the problem of an old computer, but if you think about buying a new one, it might help in the future.
Oh, that's true, yeah. It must be like a maze!
I'm probably sure you're doing exactly what I'm about to suggest, but I'll go ahead nonetheless: When you've got memories that do come back, perhaps you should write them down, even if its just keywords. Your mind will do the rest upon reading those keywords.
Same with where you saved your stuff. A big notebook where you write to which drives you saved this or that file. So all you have to do is find the name of the file in the notebook, and find which drives its in.
Even a Word file would do, on your desktop, as you can even search the name, or list them alphabetically.
As I've said, you've probably already thought of that, but no harm suggesting it anyway.
No, I don't. I'm 22. It's a strange feeling. I feel both way too young yet very old. I feel too old when I read what other people not 5 years older than me do, but at the same time, I think: "Of course, you're only 22, you're still too young"... Strange how the mind works.
I also feel as if it shows in my writing and in my conversation. I often feel like I write my stories with too much innocence and naivety; always looking for hope, happy endings, compassion and love in humans, when that is now the minority in our society, if one isn't an artist or raised in those beliefs.
Oh, btw, is a text file with 1140 words (5380 characters) too big for you to read? It's about 1 1/4 the size of Right And Wrong . I just want to know, because ever since my Office expired, I have no text program that give me pages, so I don't know what's the usual length of a page.
I've finished writing my story for the contest, so all that's left is the harder, much harder part: the picture! (ominous music start playing).

first will answer your last question, No it is not to long, that is about right. Will probably read it, and have the Lilly, my Chinese speaking computer voice, read it to me. She has nice accent. You live in north america, you have julia voice. she has sexy voice but not good accent.
Yes you sound like salesman for dell. Would it be wrong to tell you that I despise Dell. Hap hassard machine with no real coralation of parts, it's a wonder they get them to work together. Maybe now they ok, but at one time it was a night mare to get one worked on. for the past eleven years have built my own computer after extensive research. Like you if purchased my machine on the market it would cost over two thousand USD. I paid six hundred. The case that have is a huge case, bought it way back in 2004 and have used it ever since. It will take either full size mb or small mother boards. At one time had six drives in it but when using an IDE HD became a problem, now only have one inside. All those old drives which were like anywhere from five hundred gigs to six hundred gigs each, have usb container so they became external, Also have 3 3b, 4 2tb, and 2 1tb external drives. All but two of these set in a drawer in my chairside cabnet, two set on top cause they don't fit in the drawer. The drawer has USB fans that draw air through the drawers to keep them cool. And of course a hub to hook them too. The drives inside, the main one is very pittyful but was all could afford at the time, it is 2 tb but it's speed is slow, the new one is 4 tb and high speed. but for some reason haven't been able to clone the old drive and really don't want to install all these programs again. The slow drive is really what hurts me, cause even though both you and me have a ton of memory, for some reason the system wants to use the HD as memory.
You read above the mention of txt documents, all of these are stories, email address, sr numbers, and any other thing need to remember. Because of virus taking over email, my email has no address kept in it save for junk. All the rest are copied to a document, then copy and pasted back. This keeps the email program from spamming unintentunally. knew that wasn't spelled right. oh well.
Also do a lot of pdfs that have hyperlinks and word perfect that have hyperlinks, this is like what you mentioned and if click on the link, will take me to the right place, but it still is a problem cause have to remember the key word. Tried the hand written thing with certain things and it got to be to much of a hassle.
Hopefully after my birthday will have saved enough to get a new mb and processors, like said, want a duel processor, but think they will both be I 7's unless learn that AMD is greatly improved. One thing really miss is a disk reader. So many of my stories are on those from a word processor that used to have when lived back home. Didn't have computer then, as all the film was processed in the darkroom and touchups were done by hand on the negatives.
Want you to know though, will not read, nor comment on your story until the end of the contest. And even then will use a featured that will only allow me to see the work, and not who's name is below the title. Will not go to the title and description until the other puts someone in the running. Am very serrious on saying, don't want to give any knowledge or anything someone can view as an unfair advantage. So don't ask me what I think, cause won't view it till contest is over, then it not matter, your stuck with it.
Just remember, in the description, you have to tell me what part you play in this world. Knew what wanted the contest to be about, but really didn't know how to present it so people would understand. That was the hold up, and then it came to me in a dream how to word it.
Oh, two monitors adorn this computer, and am now setting up for four laptops that were given to me by people who got new ones, am going to sync them to render animations.

Okay, cool! Perhaps should precise in the contest the maximum amount of words (or characters) you feel like would be the limit for you to read, in case anyone else don't know how long a page is?
No, no, don't worry, I wasn't expecting you either to read or comment before the contest. It would be indeed extremely unfair. Beside, almost immediately after asking the question to flamingodancer, I realized it wasn't a fair thing anyway.
And yes, I understood about the description part.
I know, that was a hard description to do for the contest; I'm even surprised you succeeded to explain everything clearly, as it was a rather difficult concept to put into words. So good job!
No, don't worry. Most of our old Windows were very troublesome, and we only took that one because we really had no choice. And maybe even that it works now, but won't in a couple of months!
Wow! 600$?! I thought it costed way more to build a computer...
Your method is actually way better than what I suggested. I never thought about making hyperlinks...
Disk readers mustn't be too expensive now... I also know there are some programs now that can convert your negatives to DVDs, or CD ROMS, or even simple files.
Okay, you know what, you sound actually like a genuine geek, unlike my puny attempts to sound geeky. Nothing wrong meant by that, its just I'm used to talk with people who know nothing about their computers, so... Forgive my poor attempts at sounding smart!

lol am not that much of a geek, or hope not. but when got first computer it was from sears and the salesman told me it is always good to put stuff on the disk and keep it off the drive because the drive back then wasn't as big as they are now. Anyways in doing what he told me, accidently deleted the config file, which is what tells the computer what to do. Oh man all that money suddenly gone and was in a panic. Fortunately when went to sears to ask them, the man made a copy of the config file and a rescue disk and told me how to fix it. Since that day did everything could do to learn about computer so if anything happened could fix it myself. Then watched a tv show that showed how to build computers and that started me on that binge and found out that it really is cheaper then buying one, for a regular person building one only takes an hour or so, but for someone who breaks out in a cold sweat that something might go wrong, it takes me most of the day, checking and double checking. Plus it is hard to get up and down from the floor. This damn computer case weights a lot cause have it on wheels so can roll it back and forth under the table. below is a link to my work space. on the lower right corner you can see the computer case, just above it you can see my cabnet that holds my drives and some accessories. In the picture there are wires showing but normally they are hidden, but had take speakers off of monitor so the wires are still on floor. Have bose speakers and base for it. You can see where a small tv goes that use for a digital slide show to show photographs that have taken. You can also see the two monitors and how they are mounted so can set in my recliner and work. you can see the mouse holder on the side of the cabnet, and of course the keyboard. on your right side of chair behind it is another stand that holds my scanner and in the bottom drawer is all of my small ide drives that have if needed can plug in, but mainly they are from old computers that fond in the collage dumpster or from computers that people asked me to put a new drive in. Just don't want to throw them away. Oh you can't get a relyable 3.5 floppy disk reader for usb or sada. and with no ide hook up on motherboards, it is a pain in the tush. Oh well.
Oh, you did impress me, with your knowledge of computers. But honestly think about building your next one. Unfortunately the case you have probably won't work and it is usually the case that cost. They are about a hundred usd. But you can always find cheap but good parts if you search. Like I get most of my stuff from egg head, and other from amazon, those are the most relyable and cheapest. The reason your case probably wouldn't work is that it is built for the mother board that is in it, and then they add ducks for the air which probably wouldn't match the postion of the next MB
this is what you need to build a computer. Probably the memory you have could be used, if not your looking at a hundred. the mother board is between a hundred and two hundred, the processor the same. You already have exterior dvd writer, so you don't need it. You have sound so you don't need, when you get the case it usually comes with a power supply, just make sure it is a powerful one. You have a graphic card so that would also work, wireless keyboard and mouse, your probably already have, and the HD you have will probably fit also, once you convert over to the new case, then you can upgrade anything at anytime, as you can afford. No need to sink all that money into a new computer everytime something goes bad. On average about every four years will replace my motherboard and processor cause have a tendecy to burn out the motherboard. And yes the whole sysem is on indivual power surge protectors as well this room of the hosue is on a surge protector cause of all the electronics. So just out of courosity why don't you check out prices of componets that you would need to build one

Rather well organized you are, might I say. Ah, bose speakers, and logitech keyboard you too?
Oh, that's sad... I thought since there was tape readers, and vinyl readers, thought they made floppy disk readers.
Yeah, me too I'll go check... Let's see... Pretending I keep most of my stuff... and for the sake of it, pretending I have to buy everything anew
Computer case: Around 60-100$ depending on the fans and bells and whistles, and whether it is gaming or not; so let's put 80$
Umm, Motherboard... I don't know exactly what's a mother board, but in Canada, that's around 300$
The Processor seems to be about 350$; that too I have to check more in details what it is. I'm guessing it's the I7 package...
So 800$ my computer, if I keep some of my stuff (Canada pricing are always higher)
And finally, if I have to buy the card and the memory...
Card is 175$ if keep this one, or if I upgrade to a much more powerful one, pretending I need extremely power for my rendering, it's 300$. I'm kinda willing to pay a hundred more to get an extreme gaming card.
Memory Cards, to get my 32 gb, is 400$
Hardrive for a decent 2 tb is 200$
Now where goes my 4.0 ghz?? That I always wondered... the motherboard, the processor, the graphics cards, HD?
So if got to buy anything anew, its
1700$
That's a very fair price, but and then, I have a graphic card that won't find in a 2000$ computer, not with the amount of TB included that I need (most higher computers with more powerful graphics cards come only with a 500 GB HD).
The only hick, is that isn't me that bought the computer. It was my dad, as a gift since he learned I wanted to go in 3D, and since it fitted his dreams to transform his ideas in 3D. And he distrust heavily custom-built computers; "Better let the professionals handle the building... " he said when I casually mentioned that we could assemble our own computer, "or, to let the gamers have fun with that". Imagine a disgusted tone of voice upon saying the word gamers; he hates them. And then he adds: "Beside, for a few hundreds more, we won't take the risk, okay?" Again a disgusted tone. He's the opposite of cheap; for him, the higher the price, the better he feels the quality. And I also suspect he does that intentionally to augment the debt we owe him.
But I am definitively noting down that as soon I can change my computer, I'll definitively make my own. I've always wanted anyway to build a monstrosity with loads of memory (never got enough of 1 TB).
I'm quite glad to have learned from you how cheap it actually was.

Must be nice to have a dad made of money to buy the best. What is it the duty that makes things cost more. Always thought things were cheaper in Canada. Hard to believe since can import things from china at a very cheap price. Ordering a dress from back home cost me about thirty usd where buying the same dress her cost me around 300. Which means that here don't get my money.

Now in my life I am very alone. I am a college professor so by day I am surrounded by many people. I have a unique personality so the students seem to really like me and want to spend time with me. However when I am not on campus I am alone. I have no more family now they have all passed but my adopted mother who is elderly and I help care for her. The woman I loved died many years ago from a ruptured brain aneurysm. I have gone on with my life but I never really got over it. I am happy but alone. So I think often and love the one who is not there. If I could have one wish it would be to walk with her one more time.

As of tomorrow it will ten years since I lost mine, along with everything else that mattered. Don't know if I ever had any brothers or sisters, don't remember much about my parents and what I do remember, I'd rather forget. A resent event brought back memories that were long buried and I wish would have remained buried. We all go on with our lives whether we want to or not, and do we ever get over the one we loose. It is true many will find new love and happiness, but will they forget the one they first chose? I couldn't for our lives were so intertwined throughout our lives. Even when we both were expected to go separate ways because both had separate careers, her's in Japan, Mine in China, we still stayed together. A little tough, but non the less most satisfying.
Like you not a day goes by that I don't either get mad at her for breaking through my defenses, or wishing to be with her one more. Unlike you life is not a bit satisfying. There is nothing left to be satisfying. To live what has been given to me, is not life.
