And yes, in this story Knuckles is Sonic's best friend not Tails.
Don't get me wrong, he knows Tails and they are friends but Knuckles and him went to school together and grew up together
so it only makes sense they are best friends.
If you get mad about that trust me I will ignore it being this is a fan reality.
