Description Keynote is based on a slice of my childhood. Her cutie mark is a barrel key (not skeleton, they're different okay?) with a slip of parchment wrapped around. Paper can be rolled inside barrel keys to pass information or hide secrets, a method I used often as a child. Her cutie mark indicates trustworthiness as a secret keeper. The overall shape of the key is inspired by Pottermore's Gringotts key. Her magical talent is locking and unlocking objects. I'd also like her to be able to affect other unicorns' magic by casting spells to visualize the magic patterns and unravel them, but this skill would come later in life after much study.

Keynote has two older brothers (my brothers' ponies - a pegasus named Tintype and an earth pony named Adam) and a pet named Clāvis (Latin for "key") who carries messages during her travels around Equestria. I'm still working out Clāvis' design.

Yeah. I also haven't been able to draw anything new because I don't have photoshop (my grandfather deleted it because he fails. So, I'm a bit depressed and I don't want to use paint because it sucks..

Aw...I'm sorry to hear that Have you tried looking for art programs online? I hear gimp's not bad, and I know a few people who downloaded Corel Painter and they seem to like it. I've never used it though...

Eyup! My oldest brother got pulled in first but now the other one has joined the herd as well haha. The oldest sibling is an earth pony named TinType, he's obsessed with the 1800's and builds fabric airplanes/gliders and dresses sort of steampunk. The other one is a pegasus named Atom (possibly Atomic Clock, or just Adam, it's undecided). Atom is a scientist who doesn't believe in magic, he says it's just unexplored science. He's very cynical and I imagine Pinkie Pie would LOVE to try and make him smile just once lol! It's a dysfunctional family xD

Definitely, we'd need some mixed heritage down the line to make this work haha. I made my pony "WispySwift" first, then Atom came along just before I started on Keynote, and TinType is only in the planning stage. So in other words our ponies came into being exactly opposite my brother and me xD

TinType is the oldest sibling, or at least I'm assuming our pony ages will be in the same order as we are. I'm not giving up my position of youngest and only daughter, that's for sure! I like being spoiled sometimes xD

OHMYGOSH SHE IS THE CUTEST PONY EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I loveeee her design and everything about her! She's got the coolest ability and the cutie mark is really clever and nicely drawn! You drew the style so well! I'm jealous XD.
I love hoer short hair and tail - they're very fitting!
Gosh, how did you draw the pony so well?! Anyways - I love her colours, they're all so natural looking. Her hat's really adorable too! I wanted to add a similar hat to my pony but I decided against it - it's a very hitting hat for yours though! And by hitting, I mean fitting (geez, what's with me and typing?)

Also like how you used keys to show the different shades - very cute! But man, I think I'm falling in love with the cutie mark! How did you draw the key?! it looks so AWESOME! Very fitting in therms of their style too!

And your childhood sounds like a lot of fun XD! I always wanted to pass around secret messages or something, but I mainly just shouted everything XD.

Haha I love your comments xD I used a reference for the pony but it's a fairly simple style overall so it's not too hard to duplicate. I wibbled on the hat for awhile actually because I wasn't sure if I wanted that hole in it or not but I think it works okay. The key is from Pottermore, it's the Gringott's key except I simplified and recolored it so it would work for this purpose.

My grandpa was a locksmith and my mom inherited the business, so a lot of my childhood memories involve locks and keys. I've always been a quiet person so even as a child I preferred to pass silent notes and be secretive about it instead of announcing my thoughts loudly although I'm sure shouting gets the point across faster! xD

I'll take that as a compliment then XD. By hole, you mean having the horn right? I think it was a good idea, since that way you can actually tell she's a unicorn XD.
That key still looks so amazing though!

I have like a little fetish over keys since Kingdom Hearts so I kind of have a thing for them XD. Possibly makes Keynote all the more awesome as a pony.

Good, it was intended as a compliment xD Yeah the hole for her horn... I had the hat in several positions before I settled on how it is now. I really want to draw her from the front now to see if I can get the hat right at that angle.

You're not alone, a lot of people like keys. We get collectors at our lock shop all the time who want to buy antique keys, locks, and doorknobs. But we only sell those to people who need them for restoration purposes. Lots of historical buildings around here and the owners want to keep everything as original as possible.

I was telling Sarang about my idea for a pony a while ago - which I'm not sure I'll draw up for lack of time - but her name would be Baladina, she would write songs and she would be a unicorn type except she is incapable of magic regardless, so she writes by dipping the end of her horn in ink. She has done this for so long that the tip is permanently stained.

Her strong suit would be writing songs, but she might sing. I don't want her to appear too godly and talented; I really try to avoid Mary Sues. That's also why I decided on the no-magic cripple.

It's mainly the dimensions and the whole "thick line, big eyes" concept. xD I can't draw animals anyway, especially the ones that don't have paws.
