Description So this is quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever done. This is why I have no internet friends. T_T

This is essentially my constant reaction while watching the ABC show Once Upon a Time. It's a suprisingly good show, but there hasn't been much going on lately in terms of furthering the plot, and I blame that on one person: Emma. GOD DAMMIT EMMA, I KNOW THAT YOU'RE THE RATIONAL NO-NONSENSE TOUGH CHARACTER WHO DOESN'T BELIEVE IN MAGIC, BUT COULDN'T YOU CHANGE THAT JUST THIS ONCE SO THAT WE CAN ALL FINALLY LEARN WHAT THE F IS GOING ON WITH THIS CURSE AND GET BACK TO THE STORY?! I MEAN, THE GRUMPY/NOVA EPISODE? WTF WAS THAT CRAP? Admittedly, she has finally taken her first step by taking Henry's book to read, but that's NOT GOOD ENOUGH. BELIEVE, EMMA. BEEEEEEEEEEEEEELIEVE. MY RUMPELSTILTSKIN AND MAD HATTER FANGIRL DEMAND IT.

Slightly unrelated... what'd you guys think of this weeks episode? I actually really liked it- sure, Wonderland looks like the worst screensaver ever and I'm not sure what was going on when Regina and Jefferson (aka the Mad Hatter) jumped into the hat- but the story was great, there was some actual suspense, and Jefferson honestly just kicks ass. He better be back- obviously he's not dead, but he better show up again. Katherine too- no way she died and we didn't even get to see it. No way, no how.

IN OTHER NEWS, it has come to my attention that there exists no Jefferson (aka the Mad Hatter) fan club on dA yet, which is clearly a horrible crime which I have taken upon myself to rectify. You can find it here:[link]

EDIT: So it happened! She believes now! And the finale was great if a little deus ex machina-ish at times ! *insert 'everything went better than expected' gif here. XD

The last episode was just so... agh, I don't even know.

I do think she believes is now... or at least, is starting to. While she may not have been completely convinced by her conversation with Jefferson, some of what she said was definitely true before she hit him with the telescope. It's only natural that she would have to resort to whacking him with the telescope to get out of there in time. Not to mention that afterwards, she definitely saw the scar. If the scar wasn't proof enough, I'm not sure what is.
And that last scene with the book--I'm sure of it now.
Though I don't think it'll be confirmed just yet.

I'm with you guys on David, but I do like Prince Charming. As far as I'm concerned, David is the curse idenitity, not the real one, Emma's father and a hero. Hopefully, as the curse keeps weakening, his behavior will improve. the way I see it, the curse pulls out your negative qualities and amplifies them, like how Mary Margaret is meek almost to a fault, unlike Snow White.

I about flipped when I found out he was the mad hatter. It was bad ass. And although Wonderland looked like a screensaver, you have to admit, so did Burton's Alice movie.

I completely agree with Emma needing to fucking jump on the magic wagon already. About every time she talks to Henry like, "Oh, yup, uh-huh, you're not crazy one bit, your just imaginative." I want to attack the TV. Belieeeeeeeve, Emma, Belieeeeveee!

I don't think the Grumpy episode was too bad. A little cheesy, but it explains why he turned Grumpy and his past and all that good stuff he was talking about with Snow that one episode.

Prince Charming/David may be a winy bitch, but his wife(of sorts) just died and he's all upset and shit because of Mary.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ava1234567 In reply to That70sshowlova [2012-03-30 22:11:47 +0000 UTC]

Lmao very true! I didn't like that movie, to be honest... I like quirky and weird but I think Tim Burton has always been just a little too quirky and weird for me. I don't know.
I find it hilarious that some of the actual residents of Storybrooke, who are under the influence of the curse, find it easier to believe than Emma does. That Sheriff (can't remember his name) was pretty sure of what was going on towards the end, and while Mary doesn't actually know yet, on a few different occasions she's showed signs of being aware that SOMETHING is going on. But Emma's all "Magic? Pssh, that only exists in storybooks, I'M TOO RATIONAL TO BE FUN." ...*sigh* BELIEVE, DAMMIT.
I did like that he actually got a backstory, as opposed to "I act like a jerk because... because... because my name's Grumpy. Duh." I just didn't think it was very well done.
I don't dislike David because of all his angsting (because as annoying as I find him, like you said, he kinda has a right to be a little upset), I dislike him because he keeps making stupid decisions and doesn't seem to learn from hindsight. -_-

mugglebornprincess [2012-03-29 05:22:54 +0000 UTC]

i'll agree on david. he's a whiny idiot with a constant weepy/dopey look on his face that i just want to hit with a blunt object. and that bit about the wonderland screensaver...oh wow, that hit the nail on the head alright! LOL

the episode i thought was a bit weird. regina's a beeyotch, granted, but she REALLY could have just taken the mushroom and waited until they got back to the fairytale world to bring her father back (b/c he technically wasn't a person yet and therefore wouldn't have counted as an extra body that passed through the mirror). that way they all could have gotten through. the show really dropped the ball on that one (i think so anyway). i'll just chalk it up to regina doing it on purpose anyway just to make his life miserable. poor jefferson, he can't catch a break lol

and he really didn't need to be that desperate. he said that for 28 years he couldn't leave the house, but when emma came everything changed. he can obviously leave his house now because he was walking on the side of the road. why couldn't he have just gone down to the diner and eased her into the whole "magic-y" thing? but i guess then the show wouldn't be as interesting. but you'd think that after 28 years of thinking and planning he'd come up with a better line than, "BWAAARRRGGHHH MAKE IT WORK!!! *rabid frothing of the mouth*"

i'm also fans of both rumpel and jefferson. their awesomeness and sexiness are impossible to resist. i'll be watching the hatter club just as soon as i hit the 'add comment' button! XD

God, I want to like him, I really do, but he's such an idiot sometimes. "Sorry Mary, I know I promised I'd tell the woman I don't actually love about our affair, but... you see... I didn't wanna..." "OMG MARY, Y U KILL KATHERINE? DON'T SAY YOU DIDN'T I REMEMBER YOU SAYING YOU WERE GONNA DO IT, EVEN THOUGH DURING THAT 'MEMORY' YOU HAD LONG HAIR, A CROSSBOW, AND WERE WEARING WEIRD CLOTHES, AND SINCE I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE CURSE IT WOULD BE FAR MORE LOGICAL FOR ME TO ASSUME THAT WAS A DREAM, BUT WHATEVER, Y U KILL PEOPLE?!" Ugh.
No, no, you've got it wrong. The story of the mushroom in Alice in Wonderland is that if you take a bite from one side, you grow, and if you take a bite from the other side, you shrink. I think that her dad was just somehow shrunk and put in that box, and she was bringing him back to normal size. So, assumingly, even though he was really small he would have counted as a person as so Jefferson would still have had to stay. Or maybe it was just for the sake of drama. I really don't know.
I think the reason he was acting so desperate is because, like the story, he was the 'mad' hatter- all the pressure being put on him and his desperation to escape Wonderland to find his daughter got so intense that it eventually did drive him crazy. And, after the curse happened, he's now trapped in this new world, still apart from his daughter, but now he's forced to see her ALL THE TIME and not be able to do anything about it. Not to mention that, like he said, he has to deal with all these 'conflicting memories' in his mind. It'd be enough to drive anyone crazy, especially after 28 years... I still don't know what he talking about with the whole 'I can't leave the house' thing... dude, you did leave the house. We saw you leave the house. If you didn't leave the house you would never been able to trick Emma with your vaguely-stalker-like-hotness. XD
Lol me too! Awesome hope you enjoy it!

My input on the show: It's not horrible. I enjoy it and don't have to call it a guilty pleasure. In fact, the majority of people I've met watch it and love it. The special effects aren't that horrible. It's better than many SyFy movies that are out. As for the filler episodes, every tv show has them. Without them, the storyline would move too quickly and it'd all end in just one season. This first season is to introduce all the characters that will be playing important roles in future episodes and for you to know their background story. I personally loved the Grumpy/Nova episode. It showed a different twist on how Grumpy became, well, Grumpy. And as for the hat, it's obviously a magic portal to different worlds. It might even have a door for our Earth. The only thing I will agree on in your paragraph is the fact that Emma is way too hard-headed and should already believe in magic.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ava1234567 In reply to Remayre [2012-03-29 02:15:35 +0000 UTC]

Hmm. I wouldn't call it a great show, it's certainly good, but I don’t find myself being too affected by it, which is the ultimate goal of any entertainment. I call it a guilty pleasure more because it is a very overly-dramatized show (which I used to tell myself I shouldn't get into because they're over-the-top) but I don't think that makes it necessarily bad. I like it and think it's fairly entertaining. I don't think I'm really been too hard on the show by pointing out its obvious flaws.
Yes, every show has filler episodes. That doesn't mean we have to like them. :\ I think that when I said some recent episodes don't have much to do with furthering the plot, I was talking less about the standard backstory episodes- I mean, those are the interesting ones- and more about the continuing Charming-and-Snow plotline. Don't get me wrong- their story is one of the most interesting ones on the show- but some of the 'conflicts' they've had lately were resolved far too quickly and left both characters relatively unchanged and the story unaffected from when they began. Essentially, they were unnecessary; and while any day Ginnifer Goodwin is on my screen is a good day, I don’t like pointless drama. I didn't care about what was happening because I could tell it was going to be wrapped up that same episode, and it wouldn't change anything.
I don't watch SyFy, so I don't know what you mean. I think special affects for a show are definitely harder than for a movie- they don't have nearly as much time or money to put them together. However, on OUaT, the costumes, setting, and magical creatures are pretty believable overall. It's only when they get into the actual magic stuff and have to use a ton computer graphics that it really starts to bother me. They’re so bad they completely pull me out of the story, because I'm so distracted by Wonderland a screensaver from the 1990s. I'm not sure how they could improve it, but I hope they find some way to do so because it's driving me crazy. Not enough to make me stop watching, but still.
I really didn't like the Grumpy/Nova plotline. I think the main reason I didn't like it was because I was actually really looking forward to his backstory, but when we got there it was badly handled and honestly rather cheesy (yeah, yeah, I know fairytales are supposed to have some level of cheesy, but this was just awful). Can't say much for the acting either, which is strange because he's been doing pretty well up till then. Overall I just found their story really uninteresting. The reasons for him and Nova's breakup felt too sudden and contrived. Obviously it was necessary for the story to move forward, but it was done too quickly and carelessly. I just didn't enjoy it.
You misunderstood my comment about the hat. I fully understand what it is and how it works; I meant that I didn't know what was going on with the special affects- it looked like a bizarre, perfectly symmetrical purple tornado that was more funny than anything else. :\

DNA-The-Authoress [2012-03-28 22:46:30 +0000 UTC]

I like the show- of course, I did skip about 5 week's worth of episodes or something like that and only caught up on two (the Belle and Rumpelstiltskin one being one of them). Yeah, it may not be the greatest show ever, but it's had some good moments. Also, I still believe in James Charming or whatever his name is. David needs to get his act together, but I still like James. He's the saving grace of that character, honestly.
My favourite character is August (the author). Of course, I'm a writer myself who loves motorcycles, leather jackets (I own two, one black and one grey), and wry/dry humour, so he's all kinds of amazing. XD I like Jefferson, but unfortunately my family missed the first quarter of the episode, so I can't fully give my opinion on the overall episode. And yes, I agree that Wonderland looked like a bad screensaver, but since it's Wonderland, it's okay for it to look like a drug-trip landscape. XP

Ava1234567 In reply to DNA-The-Authoress [2012-03-28 23:07:02 +0000 UTC]

Yes, the Belle/Rumpelstiltskin episode was definitely a high point. I do like the show, I just feel like it's kind of been in a slump lately...
It's funny, I'm pissed at David but I like James, and I'm annoyed with Snow but I like Mary Margaret. It's twice as weird than you'd think considered that they're all the same people. 0_o
I'll admit to having a weakness for leather jackets, but I'm not really sure what I think of August. We know so little about him; I don't really understand him...
Really? That stinks, I'm sure there are some online sites where you can watch episodes of the show... do you like in the US? If so, try Hulu.
Lol very true, very true. Considering that Lewis Carrol, who wrote the original wonderland story, actually had drug problems, it's not a surprise how wacked-out Wonderland always ends up being. XD

I liked it, too. I didn't expect them to take it in that direction, but it does make sense seeing as it seems they're trying to make Rumpelstiltskin more likable than Regina, and giving him a possibly hopeless romance is a good way to get at least the females to sympathize with him more. Golly... what have psych and AP Lit. classes done to me? XD
I know! I feel the same way (though my annoyance goes back and forth between Mary Margaret and Snow). But yeah, for whatever reason David didn't pick up on James's awesomeness. What gives?! I hope David gets cool soon. Really. I mean, Mary Margaret channeled some of Snow's fighting skills. All David seems to channel is James's feelings and not any of his judgement skills. DX
I know that August is more than he seems, but I'm not sure whether he leans toward villain, antagonist (which is different from full-blown villain), rogue character, or good. There are so many possibilities.... I'm curious as to how he'll develop. He's got a role to play, and I hope we get to see more soon. I hope they don't ruin him, though. That'd be a shame. :/
I caught up with a few on ABC's site. I just feel too lazy to catch up, to be honest. XP I'm so bad...
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. A drugged up, pedo (I believe) mathematician. No wonder indeed that Wonderland's so trippy. XD

I hate David too.
I'm starting to wonder where they're going to take the Snow White character. The last few episodes have shown flashbacks to her in FTL and she became kind of a bully and was really mean. Then when she kicked Jefferson and shocked Emma at how strong and aggressive she was. I HOPE they are going somewhere with this....

So what happens when Emma finally believes? I mean we all want her to but then what comes after that? Can't be Happily Ever After since then the whole point of the show is nul.
