Description Capricolumba deiphon is a close relative of C. pogona . Besides a distinctly shaped cere, C. deiphon differs from other members of the genus in that it no longer possesses any ability nor inclination for nest-building. Instead, adults of C. deiphon seize abandoned nests for themselves (and their eggs). Here, an individual is shopping for a new home among the communal nests of Nidotanagra fuscus.

Zow... We lose some of the detail of the C. deiphon against all of the detail of that nest. The fact that the value range of the greeny-blues of the bird and the dark golden brown of the nest are almost the same. If the nest was significantly lighter or darker it would help us to differentiate the bird from it.

On the other hand, such a color scheme helps camoflage it against green-blue colorblind predators, such as Dendrogulo, the tree wolverine.

It's like an avian squatter...

It is an avian squatter. Of course, the fact that N. fuscus flocks often build more compartments than they know what to do with tends to help C. deiphon.
