Description Sometimes I take photos of things that I see that are interesting in some way, not often but you can never go out to shoot photos thinking you will only take pictures of one particular thing otherwise you will miss everything else going on around you.

These shoes were sitting on the side of an old building used to store tanks way back when China was invaded by Japan. Even though the buildings are being remodeled now, they still got some rustic taste to them.

Yeah...so...a nice gritty photo, just my style. The contrasts and colors were pretty nice for this and it seemed like a nice opportunity to really test my new Canon 17-40 L lenses color and contrast abilities. I must say im quite pleased. You might also notice how sharp and detailed this is, sort of interesting because I just used the same film I always do and scanned it the same way I always do and the same usual amount of USM added after words in photoshop, so compared to my other Canon 28-135 IS lens you can see the huge differences between pro and consumer quality. No regrets at all.

The name just came to me because I thought about where these shoes were and how it was not a usual place to see shoes and yeah...it all came together.

Canon EOS 30V, Canon 17-40mm L lens, Fuji Superia 100

Yes, gritty indeed. I love how the gritty is interrupted by a bright color but still not centered. Good job.

once I saw this scene I knew it could not be centered in order for it to be more unique

Marvelous textures color and contrast .. it has a kind of sadness to it which makes it dramatic and compelling..very nice.

sorry if it seems I take a long time before I reply or comment .. I try to

get to all on my watch but between doing my own work and dealing with

family and medical issues .. I'm slow .. for that I apologize

wow! That's beautiful. I love the contrast between the bright colour of the shoes to the dull, worn wall. Mesmerizing.

cool shot man... the good kit was worth it eh?,, its still gonna lose something in the scan... and how about the re-sizing?

the lens was worth it, thats for sure. It does loose a lot in the scan, my scanner is a peice of crap, if you look at the prints the detail and colors and all that is a lot better looking. The resizing is pretty much the same as the print, I croped it how I wanted when I took the photo so the size is the same

Great shot - there are so many ways that a viewer could interpret this image. I love the vibrant color of the shoes against the greys and subtle reds of the surrounding area. I also really like the gritty feel to it. Nice work.

Amazing coulors! I envy you for your new lense! Next time I get to Hongkong I will by a lense like that - they are amazingly cheap over there and I'm so fed up with mine (I accidently bought a really bad one a couple of years ago... wanted to buy another one in fact, but got confused about them when I went back to the shop to buy them.... grrrrrr. I was so stupid that time...).

Then, I wanted to say that I took a couple if "shoe shots" as well in China That's something soooo chinese - why do they do that? Just leaving their shoes leaning against a wall? Especially those typical green working shoes - know which ones I mean? You see them EVERYWHERE!

I also like the perspective and a couple more things in the pic.... also your signature. It looks really great! Did you write it yourself? Or this that a special font? Anyway, it looks great! The whole picture looks great - as always!

yeah, im very pleased with the price I got for this thing, 3800 rmb (2,237.15 franks) which is about 40% less then I saw it going for online. Very pleased.

heh...I know exactly what you mean by those green all purpose shoes, haha...there are a lot of workers in my school now remodeling the whole damn thing and they all got those, pretty funny

The signature is writen by me on a peice of paper then scanned into the computer and then added to my frame, just gives it that "personal touch" I think
