Description I wanted to upload this before, but I never got the right picture, so at last, here is my Ithilien Ranger costume from the Lord of the Rings. I felt like doing something diffirent than the armor, since that wasn't really comfortable to wear, and it was very warm in there
Anyways, this took me about 3 or 4 weeks to make, and everything visable on the picture is home made, exept for the sword it consists out of 5 layers, with fabric and leather. leather is a pain to sew, trust me.. one thing I found less nice, was that the cape got a little short, and the picture doesn't show the whole bow unfortunately :/
I had a lot of fun making and wearing it, thanks for the view

I love it, I want it lol was talking about making one for a photo shoot. Did you use leather (hyde) or like, pleather-car-inlay? lol i'm not being cheap just want to make it soon for the summer pics. (Perfect area around my house)

thank you! I used real hyde leather for everything that's leather on there have you got experience with making things yourself? because it's pretty do-able if you have the patience hehe

Good work, and it looks spot on. My main gripe would be the colour of your jerkin, which looks very red in this picture. It looks great in the 'Forbidden pool' picture though.

This might not be of any help, but I've found that sewing thin leather is much easier on your sewing machine if you use a leather needle. These have sharp edges, so they 'cut' through the leather instead of trying to pierce through.

Thanks for the comment, I agree with you on the colour of the jerking, but it's real leather and the trader didn't have anything that suited it better at that time, so I picked this one would have liked it a little more brown though and yes I did use leather needles, it does help a lot, or rather, makes the job plausable, but still it's hard to do. I think it could be the sewing machine..
and thanks again

Very, VERY nice! I know how much effort, work, patience, and indeed expense (leather!) this must have taken. Only trouble is it looks new, hasn't been worn on many ranging missions yet! If I were in SCA or something I could justify making a very similar outfit - I've always wanted to.

One question: your sword, what kind is it? Is it a sharp/blunt? It looks familiar but I can't place it.

thank you very much for the compliment yeah hopefully it will get dirty after a while you should always try to make things! I couldn't sew before I started on this either, and only had done some basic leatherworking, so I had to learn all that stuff by my self or the sewing from my mom.. haha
my sword is a battle ready sword I bought at a shop nearby, and it's model was used a lot in medieval history I believe. you can also find it on this website

I should try! It's time consuming and it occupies my mind for days on end when I get into stuff like that...which is why I need a lot of free time to do it. But, yeah, I'm going to start by making a better scabbard for my sword (looks like you did too?). I have some basic leatherworking practice too, but I've never been good at sewing.

I guess that was just a popular pommel style on your sword then, that's why it's familiar. Funny how the styles of swords changed over the decades. Do you use it for cutting bottles or anything, or just for show?
