Description

Excited paws rushed through the dense forest with haste accompanied by a chorus of giggles as the dark-pelted juvenile ran away playfully from her brother.
“Nori, stop! Wait up!” he pleaded after her, but this only seemed to encourage the young female to run even faster.

“I don’t think you understand the point of tag!” she called out teasingly over her shoulder, turning back around just in time to dart around some tall pines in her path, nothing short of gracefully. She slowed her gait slightly to make sure her visually impaired sibling did not lose sight of her, but surged forward once again the moment he got too close.
“Nori, come on!” the winded male started again. “We’re way too far from camp! We need get back home now before we—”

The female suddenly sank her hind paws into the ground and came sliding to a stop. She whipped herself around quickly just in time to see her brother scramble to halt himself as well before he could run into her.

“Before we what?!” She demanded with brows furrowed. “Get in trouble? Mom is gone, remember? She left us, and the Captain is too busy taking care of her own kids and everybody else to worry about us.” Her sharp words instantly caused Nagi to wince, his ears to flattening and his odd gaze full of despair shifting downwards. Nori gave a long sigh, her features softening in the process before speaking again, far more gentle this time.
“As long as we got each other, we can do anything, alright? Don’t you worry.”

Feeling a bit reassured, Nagi glanced back up at his sister with a coy grin, and Nori returned his smile full force. But a shadow drifting above them and blocking out the sun interrupted the moment. It captured the attention of the two young wolves, causing them both to look upwards for its source. It was hard to see the sky with the tall trees towering above them, but Nori could make out a strange, dark cloud of some sort, though she doubted Nagihito would be able to see it too. “What is it?” He asked, almost as if on cue. “I dunno,” Nori replied, “it’s hard to tell with all these trees.” Her orange eyes scanned for higher ground, and there just so happened to be a ledge of sorts which rose above a majority of the trees and seemed easy enough to traverse. “Follow me.”

Once at the top, the two youths could hardly believe their own eyes. They stared in awe as the unseasonably warm breeze ruffled their pelts as a large black cloud seemed to rise from the ground, so substantial in size that even Nagihito could see it clearly. “Woah…” Nori breathed out slowly. “I’ve never seen a cloud like that before. I wonder where it’s coming from. We should go find out.”
“What?” Nagi scoffed as he turned back towards his sister. “Are you insane? I know my eyesight isn’t the best but it looks far away. We should really be getting home now.”
Nori—without hesitation—rolled her eyes at her brother’s overly-anxious thoughts. “It’s not that far. Look, if we hurry we can make it back home way before nightfall.”

“But Nori, I don't think—”
“Come on, let’s go!” Nori chirped before bounding back down the incline. But as was the usual, Nagi did not dare to protest his sister’s commands; he merely sighed before trotted along after her. He trusted her fully, like always, as he followed dutifully behind her, but he couldn’t help but feel that this was a bad idea...
