The picture shows 7 steps of my WIP from start to finish while drawing Noctis.
Please understand that pencil drawing is just my hobby and I'm not claiming that this is the right way to draw, it is just my way of drawing.

There is roughly 1-2 hrs for each step.
so that makes around 14 hrs to finish this.

I hope this will help and motivate you. And I still have a long way to go ahead of me.

I would say that my level of skill is closer to the fourth frame here, my pencil drawings always come out half finished
I can never spend more than 3 hours on a drawing, but this inspires me to at least try it
Thank you for this!

I must say that I appreciate this a lot. I never got a good education in art, I just use the talent my mother gave me and go, lol. My art teacher did her best, but i can't say she was a good teacher -_- Anyway, i like this a lot.

This is very impressive O: How do you go from the third to last panel, which has more flatly shaded hair, to the second to last panel, where the highlights in the hair are very apparent? I guess normally people use erasers, but your lines are *very* crisp despite the "highlighting" step.

The final product is amazing, of course.

It's amazing.
I thank you for showing your steps, otherwise I would be left in wonder and with thousands of questions!
XD

I've read other comments to make sure that you haven't answered my questions already and you mostly have.
The only question I have is, you say that you use a long stick under your drawing hand to prevent smudging.
I don't quite get what you mean when you say that, can you explain. I'm really sorry if it's a simple thing and I'm completely missing it. ^^'
I sometimes don't understand the simplest of things.

Beautiful work though!
Very inspiring. I want to try my hand at such a magnitude of drawing some day.

the left hand hold the stick in an angle above the paper and lean the right drawing hand on it

How do you keep from smudging accidently while you are working? I noticed in some areas of your work, there is a little bit, but it gets cleaned up later. That can be easily explained with an eraser, but it definatly is not nearly as smudged as mine turn out to be.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

B-AGT In reply to MissBeastie [2011-07-07 08:09:41 +0000 UTC]

I usually hold a long stick under my drawing hand, so that you can lean on it
