..lost count of time. im so close to the city now, ive gone beyond even being able to feel its heat blasting against my flesh; the dry shreds left of my clothes caked to my skin, peeling away like the last remnants of a snakes old skin. i can start to see off in the distance the beginnings of the dark tower behind the city, growing out into the sky, against the bright fire, its ghostly king still beyond my gaze. and now that he's on my mind i recall the other two. i'm very sure i can feel them watching, or feeling my presence, as i close in on my destination. the first and the second seem far more in tune with my slow march than the third, but then he never really needed to try to watch me. the quiet screams of the first two and the loud silence of the third, all pressing their thoughts down on me as i stumble ever forward, ever inward. what a warm welcome home.
