Habitat(s): Taiga, Tundra, Redwood
Diet: Detrivore
Bulky insects that can be found in cold and forested regions, Furnace beetles or Oven bugs are capable of withstanding freezing temperatures. These beetles thrive in cold weather due to them being able to generate
heat, keeping them warm and maneuverable through the thick snow.

When threatened by a predator they'll rapidly generate enough to singe the attacker's mouth or appendages. If pushed far enough Furnace beetles will release spark scales from its wings creating mini-explosions as a distraction. Though not good fliers they outrun most predators like birds and small mammals.

Humans and Snow Elves can put them in coats for extra warmth as along as the beetles are not aggravated.
