Description You can see the basic design here [link] (not by me)
No cut, no glue.

As far as I know, there are a very limited amount of variations of this famous rat.
This variation is mathematicaly interesting because it's possible to obtain an infinite amount of rat from a single sheet. Moreover, this rat is only 1/8 smaller than the original one. The main problem is that the biggest rat has no eyes so it lessens a little his "cartoon aspect". I'll try to fix it.

I hope you like it

Clever work, I hope to see more from you.
Only 1/8 difference in size, very strange.
It looks great

Well, the problem with Joisel's rat is that variations can't use too much paper because this model already is very compact.
I folded these rats from one sheet of 50 cm and the final result if only about 15 cm tall

With a 1 m foil, it could be possible to fold about 4 rats, each one on another. Maybe I'll try soon...

This deviation really is brilliant. I wonder if the technique can be used for other models as well.
You mentioned other variations of the rat, I have only seen the one by Sebastien Curvers [link] and [link]
Do you know of others?

The advantage of the rat is that the back is open. The 2 adjacents edges meets in the middle of the model. I don't know of other models that have this advantages. Also, Curvers variation is made by rotating the square : as if you were folding the rat with the 4 corners joining in the middle (not exactly in the middle, but that's the idea) .
And to answer about the ratio, the eyes of the original rats are used in this variation as the small rat's body . It is possible to obtain a big rat with eyes, but the ratio would be under 0.5 which makes the big rat's body far too thick.

Also there aren't a lot of variations of the model. Sebastien Curver's is the only one I know. Also, Joisel himself did a very small variation : you can turn the thicknesses of the tail to have a colour-changed tail.
