Description So here's the finished sculpt sans paint or primer. Both creature and rider got a little toasty in the baking process. Reins were added (albeit a bit sloppily) in photoshop until I can aquire some suitable rein material.

This was initially going to be my entry for the Shiflett Brothers' "Monster Rider" sculpting challenge, but I started late and then promptly decided to get sick days before the deadline. So weeks later, I have finally finished the sculpting part. Paint coming soon.

The concept behind this creature (who I have named "Borfus") is that his species is the only decent form of long-distance transportation or transportation over dangerous/treacherous terrain in the world they come from. However, they are woefully lacking in intelligence, don't always obey commands, and have the propensity to violently hump any other large flying animals, buildings, or rock formations that catch their eye. However, since winged creatures that are large enough to carry passengers and cargo are few and far between, people have reluctantly settled on these pseudo-dragons for generations, vainly hoping that selective breeding may one day start producing creatures of higher intelligence and less hyperactive demeanor (but no signs of that have been seen so far)

This is also somewhat my take on the classic image of dragon and rider, which is always depicted as this amazing bond, telepathy, nobleness, dedication, etc, etc. So this guy is basically the dumb backwater hillbilly type cousin to those kind of dragons....and his poor little rider, clinging for life and yanking desperately on the reins to try to control his steed....

I see that you used some of the Nightfury's design.

How do you figure that? Only similarity might be the tail fins, which are hardly an exclusive concept.

I heaven't seen your works long time ago, but it still looks awesome!
Nice details again! I really like how the rider "connect" to his dragon.

Yeah, it's been awhile since I've gotten anything finished. I have a bunch of things I'm working on all at the same time.

Thanks for checking him out!

I actually intend to use them in a story one day, though I'm not the most prolific writer out there (I enjoy writing but it takes me about 2849753 years to finish anything.)
