Noooo, not Avatar! It actually started as a sculpture for a Shiflett Brothers contest called "Monster Rider," and inspired by things like Anne McCaffery's Dragons of Pern. Everyone was sculpting these brutish, badass looking creatures and riders, so I figured I'd take it in a goofy direction.

That's some mental detail, it's got the same level of attention to detail and texture as the McFarlane's dragons. Seriously awesome work hun. Love the lolling tongue of the dragon (seen in the close-up pic) a dragon certainly chomping at the bit, lol.

McFarlane's dragons were awesome (are they still making those? haven't seen any in ages), definitely something to aspire to as a sculptor.
