Description The steam pulled morning service from Wolsztyn to PoznaΕ„. The steam around it comes mostly from the heating system, hence the title. Unfortunately I was a bit late to my desired spot for photographing the train so I only manged to make this quickly. Still regret that I didn't catch it from the front, though.

It might not be the shot you wanted, but it is still an interesting atmospheric shot.

Amazing shot. But by steam do you men an actual steam locomotive or a train with a steam generator? Sorry I am not well versed with european operations.

A steam locomotive (here is a shot from a few minutes earlier that day: [link] ), there is a steam commuter service in Wolsztyn, Poland.

Really?! That is amazing! I had no idea Poland still used steam locomotives regularly.

Only one engine a day, five days a week sadly, but it is amazing indeed. It's partially kept up by the local governments as it encourages tourism and now they are having some funding problems unfortunately, which makes enthusiasts a bit nervous.

Ah funding problems. The US is having the same problem right now. But still. Even if its future is uncertain, its amazing that a government funded rail agency would maintain something like that.

It's a bit more complicated than just a government funded rail agency. A for-profit company, with partial government ownership, PKP-Cargo owns the locomotives and the shed, while a provincial government owned company leases the engines for their trains. There are plans for transferring the engines and the shed to a company that would be joint owned by the provincial government, the Wolsztyn city government and PKP-Cargo, which will apparently enable more direct funding for the operation.

and that would jeopardize operations like this?
