Description An artsy tribute to one of my most favorite mythical creatures of all, The Hydra, so awesomely cool

shame it's legend to be only be slayed by hercules (hence the blood drops)

done on watercolour paper in sepia ink, marker, gouache, food colouring and pencil and quality mauled by the scanner --;

fun fact: restarted this 20 times (i.e. killing it each time) but could help but restarting it, just like the Hydra's habit of not dieing over a loss of a head = D

EDIT: yes this is the end of my blue+yellow+brown hair obsession for now

wow, thanks. thanks for the fav+watch

the blood was done with red food colouring that comes in a little eye-dropper bottle. donno if they still sell it like that. this stuff is from early 90's or something =/, but yes, red food colour/ink dripped with an eye-dropper device.

i really like this drawing, also the hydra as well, the symbolism works nice with the blood and every thing. my high school life and my graduating subjects were classics so i really like any thing to do with the days of old. thats why i really like this.

though i must inquire what significance does the girl hold to this drawing ?

Basu-zo In reply to MalakaP [2007-09-24 07:21:16 +0000 UTC]

heh..none really, that's just how it started at the first version before I decided it was a hydra, originally a young gladiator at the end of battle peeling off her helmet and think about who she just killed, decided her helmet looked a bit like a dragon but I like Hydras so much more..but in my skills of finding interpretation~ people sympathise more with a young human girl, though shes doesn't look all sad, shes supposed to look a little mad and stressed.

who doesn't love a good classic reference when you know it anyway
