Description
Batman has been my favorite character ever since I was a child...so it's without much doubt that I can say that from an artistic standpoint he's been very good to me. Some of my most successful photographs have been related in some way to Batman (the only portrait I have that reached more than 100 favorites is one of the Arkham Asylum Batman). But with that success is the ego to outdo each one, and there are times when I do produce some stinkers. Other times, when I don't focus on the character that much, and allow myself time to come back and create something, it turns out to be something amazing even by my standards.

I also wanted a chance to redo this earlier picture, "Shadow of the Bat": [link] . Someone accurately pointed out that its weakness was that I didn't do the cape justice, when I wanted something "Dark Knight" about it. Took awhile, hope I did do a good job this time.

This came about by accident and completely random. I wasn't even meaning to think of a Batman Black and White photograph but it hit me like a ton of bricks and I knew I had to take advantage of the idea before it fluttered away.

This is Batman in his natural element, with nods to Bill Finger, Bob Kane, Marshall Rogers, Gene Colan, Norm Breyfogle, and my favorite Bat artist Jim Aparo.
